Strongly considering just building my own platform and buying the weights.

Some questions though, how can I improve my Jerk? I don't really have any excercises to do so. Also, is Mobility WOD still the way to get for improved mobility? My lack of is starting to become a problem. Aside from deep squatting I'm about as flexible as an erect penis.

KaoReal, $3000 holy shet. I was thinking of building an oly platform which I think would be ~$300'ish DIY, saving me up to $1k compared to buying new. Would probably look at Rogue Fitness for bar and plates... Damn this sport too expensive.

@ShangMing, no sorry I'm actually at the Olympic Oval that's attached to the UofC. Hmm, they seemed to have removed their prices from their website but back when they were Tork weightlifting, their price was something along the lines of 1800 a year. Although they make you sign a contract so you can't just try it out for a while and decide not to come back until it's up. Are you close to Mount Royal University? They have decent platforms and bars/plates from what I've been told, could check out the pricing there. The bars at UofC are pretty much garbage so I wouldn't recommend going there, and it's funny you'd mention Rogue for bars because the UofC actually has Rogue bars which have been abused so badly that they will not spin past like 45 degrees. @Flicky, could we get some videos of how you're lifting first? I don't want to just throw out advice that may not be suitable for you.

Welp, Calgary, I am disappoint. Does anyone know of possible tax loopholes I could use to reduce the cost of equipment? Like if I get a business license for home gym? lol.

Also if you have Jerk blocks, those are really useful to have to just do a large amount of pure jerks w/o having to clean it.

Presses, especially strict press have limited (if any) carryover to the jerk. Jerks, jerks, and more jerks. Maybe some snatch balances or jerk lockouts to get comfortable with more weight overhead. The jerk is about speed and technique not pressing strength.

It was a good day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nKVnxMgZW0&feature=youtu.be Nice! Looking much quicker and snappier under the snatches and cleans. Feet look good. Jerk needs work though..it's too jerky. You're dipping too fast and pausing to long, it really shows on the bar. Just unlock your knees and the bar will push you down as much as you need to as fast as you need to. As soon as you unlock your knees, immediately think about scissoring them as fast as possible. The bar will go where it needs to and the speed of your feet will carry you under it to where you need to catch it. Notice the speed of the re-bend in my knee and feet, and how the bar moves smoothly down, i get a nice whip/bend out of it even with just 144, and then shoots right back up. + Show Spoiler + And one of the masters of the shallow dip and fast split and one of my favorite jerkers, akkaev: + Show Spoiler +

![]() ![]() 62kg Snatch: + Show Spoiler + And 78kg CJ + Show Spoiler + I definitely feel that I'm getting better at finishing my pull on the snatch, bruised the shit out of my pubic bone I think, so I need to maybe widen my grip a bit? Didn't happen as much when I got to the higher weights so idk. Still need to work on my jerk, and my rack on the clean isn't so great (possibly still not finishing pull there too?) In any case, that brings me up to a 140 kilo total with just about 3.5 months of training, can't complain about that ![]()
