Some people have awful posture. Also fat people appear less tall than they are.

At approxiamately 124kg bodyweight, I just did the first chin-up of my life (and the 2nd and 3rd for that matter)! I have fucking worked for that since eight months, dropping ~40kg bodyweight and spending endless amounts of time with machine assisted chins, band assisted chins, negatives, jumping chins and lat pulldowns...
And of course I did not expect it to happen today and did not have my camera with me. I was really confused when all of a sudden I could see atop the bar.
I will take my camera with me next time and then post a video. I know for nearly all of you a chin-up is the most normal thing in the world, but for me it is the essential feeling to have control over my body, which I have basically never had in my live.

Video in spoilers, (chin-ups on the next day) the result of 8 months of consistent work every week

These posts are pretty inspiring, I went from 100kg to about 75kg where i stay for about a year, then i stopped smoking (7 months cigarette free) and i've hit back up to 105kg which is the heaviest i've ever been. I'm getting a bike next week and gonna pretty much stop using my car, my goal is to try and shed 10-15kg by the middle of summer and hopefully be in pretty decent shape going back to university in september. Its been really weird being this big as when i was at 75kg i was much more confident in every aspect of my life, and i have been quite depressed recently partlt due to my weight and the stress its causing me in other aspects of life. So i just wanna say great job to all of you guys, and maybe i'll be posting up here in a while

Well i had tried in the past using patches, but i had quit due to pressure from other people, and so i was unsuccessful. this time i had been wanting to quit for a while, and eventually just made sure i had no cigarettes left one night, and in the morning it meant i had to decide, buy cigarettes or quit. In Scotland we can get help from the NHS so you can get free nicotine patches, I did this and never felt any difficulty the whole time.

Edit: I think the key was purely mindset. I didn't view it as a challenge, or something that would be difficult to do. I viewed it as a choice, and made a decision.

Well done Maliner! Never met you but really proud of you, I'm in a position where I can't do a single chin-up (can squeeze like 1 push-up out) and it's something I'd like to be able to do.

I've only been watching my weight the past months with these ideas in mind.

Am I exercising regularly? (15+minutes every 3 days)
Eating 6 small portions instead of 3 large ones whilst watching the qualities of food (choosing nuts and grains over sugary cerals)

I was 6"3 at 16st and I'm now at 15st 5lb in 1 month of living by using above principles. So many compliments about how I look. Just gotta try and not slack and maybe hit the gym instead of burning so much bud.
Ooh, I love it when they touch it.

Meals don't matter as long as you eat "less".You should count your calories to be sure (something like myfitnesspal). I was the opposite, skinny as fuawrk and felt like "I was eating everything but my metabolism is so fast I can't gain weight" until I counted my calories and realized I was eating very little in comparison.

Also consistency, keep it up bro!

lol, you do know cereals are made out of grains....? Hence, the term cereal grains. That is why they are all sugar because they are processed grain carbohydrates.

Avoid grains completely, IMO.

ANd yes, meal frequency does not matter. 6 meals, 3 meals... whatever. It's all the same. Actually, it's not the same,... if you eat a crap diet then more meals are better... but if you're not intaking a lot of carbohydrates as sugar then it doesn't matter.

Carbs make you lean, protein and fat make you fat.

Foods high in carbs have low to medium calorie density.
Say pineapple, banana, water melon, whole grain bread, potato. Almost al carbs but if you eat them you will get lean because you need to eat so much of them to get many calories. And when you do you get tons of water and fiber which make you stop eating.
Foods low in carbs are always both high in protein and fat unless it is processed. And they are often also low or lower in water and fiber.

Almost all cereals are coated with sugar even where I live. This is bad because if affects the normal calorie density of the food for th worse. I can't imagine what they are like in the US.
And if you eat them with milk that's even worse. You suddenly got a high calorie density food that isn't even low fat.
So cereals and grains are fine. Just don't sugar coat them, eat them with tons of chocolate, cheese or butter or put them in milk.

15 minutes three times a day is not a lot. People that are really fit and fast runners with your height can burn 1200 kcal 5 times a week no problem. At that point burning calories though exercize becomes really meaningful.
Increasing your fitness through exercize is very important, but at your level it probably won't do much for losing weight.

Nuts are high to very high in calorie density and are mostly fat. Cheat-eating a few nuts can instantly ruin a whole diet plan because they just have so many calories at 600 kcal for 100g. Now if you have room in your diet plan for 50g worth of nuts at 300 kcal, you can eat them and you are ok. But if you are at your calorie count for the day and you are eating some nuts, you are quickly way over your amount of calories for the day.

Calorie counting isn't a good way to go anyway. It is better to restrict yourself to foods that are so low in calorie density that you don't have to have any portion control or calorie limitation.

Wait.. What?

1g carb is 4 kcal
1g protein is 4 kcal
1g fat is 9 kcal.

Saying that foods high in carbs have a low calorie density is just plain wrong. Foods high in carbs, protein or fat have a high calorie density.

And saying protein will make you fat is wrong. I am no scientist and have no credibility whatsoever, but I have a bunch of studies showing protein is good for your minimizing CVC, helping fatloss 1 2 and builds muscle 3. Protein also fills you up more than pretty much anything else you could eat 4 5 6. Along with many other positive effects for your body like increasing speed of recovery and reducing muscle soreness, I can find links for this too..
