Opinions on this video?

Trying to figure out if I should do that kind of squats after all in my upper/lower 4x week program, or just SS style powerlifting squats.

Do whatever you're comfortable with/have learned so far, unless you aim to get into olympic lifting in the future. Highbar/Lowbar main difference is the flexibility requirement, and that the lowbar technique allows you to move a bit more weight than highbar does, because of leverage. No reason to pick, unless you're going to compete in the future.

That said, I do Highbar. I just like it better.

I might add that I train for aesthetics, but I also like to break PRs. However, I'm not very confident about putting my body to massive stress right now (I wouldn't 1RM) because of my past injuries. Constantly finding small things to fix in my squat and deadlift technique though, which makes me feel better. Not to mention proper mobility warmup (lmao) which has had somewhat of a psychological effect as well.

I was wondering if there is any program that is kind of like Starting Strength, but only for upper body, since I injured myself recently and I won't be able to do any lifting whatsoever using my legs in the next months. Is there anything that any of you guys would recommend?

As someone who was in the same situation ~6 months ago, I'll say no there is not a similar program for the upper body. SS is full-body, which is what allows you to do three BIG compound exercises per day. If you tried three compound upper body exercises on one day (say in a push/pull designation) you're only going to end up incredibly sore, and pushin around mediocre weights.

What I did at that time, was take a break and work on my weak points. I did a LOT of benching, because with my long arms and light build that's always something that I am stalling on. I set up the exercises almost like a 5/3/1 - I would Bench heavy, then do assistance tricep extentions, chest flies, and dumbbell bench for fewer sets but higher reps (and lighter weight). Helped out a bit. Next time I came to the gym I would focus on chinups (or any vertical pulling motion) then overhead press (or any vertical push) and then rows (any horizontal pull) just to keep enough variety in the routine. It was fun, and it helped me with some of my weak spots, but I didn't see the overall progress that I wanted.

I take 20-30k as well.

For the pharmaceutical dose it's 150 lbs person takes 50k/day over 3 days.. or [(weight in kg *2 ) / 3] *1000 everyday for 3 days

Hey guys, I have a friend who had a knee surgery a while back. Don't remember how long, but I guess it's over a year now. IIRC, he torn a ligament. He's kinda chubby now and has been complaining about his weight and I mentioned working out but didn't push for it. Do you think it would be a problem for him to squat and deadlift?

Last week I saw a 50+ year old lady from India do the lowest squat I've ever seen like it was nothing. It really is just a natural thing for people to do who don't grow up sitting in chairs all the time.Even after doing SS for a few months I can't balance myself ATG on my heels without a barbell on my back.
Just think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half of them are even stupider!

He should be able to do it.... but he may have to work at it depending on how good his rehab was

I take 30k for three days, then return to my usual dose (10k every day or every other.) Haven't been sick longer than three days since I started taking Vit D over a year ago - and the times I get sick at all usually corresponds to my sleeping poorly, eating poorly, or not taking the Vit D for more than a week (vacations, etc). It's pretty baller stuff.

Since I first saw this "stretch" (the mentioned 3-world-squat) on some stretching site a few months back, I instantly thought that this must be the best movement to train a real squat, and since then I often stretch like this in the gym and sometimes at home. My flexibility has improved extremely since then, but I still have some trouble without my weightlifting shoes. The article just inspired me to do it even more often. It is really a great and natural movement. I can squat down deep like this fairly well, but my spine is not yet in a good position then (being a big guy, my gut is kind of in the way^^) and without my hands stretched out to balance my weight, I cannot hold it for long.

another good one is getting a raised bar (inch or 2)
and squatting whilst standing on the bar
except the bar is underneath your toes rather than your heels (so it does the opposite of squat shoes)
will rape the shit out of your legs
(or i guess 3rd-world squat or normal squat with raised toes is a better way of saying it)

I suppose in some combination of martial arts, gardening and proper squatting I've retained the ability to do these.
