Did my first ever olympic lifting workout^^ 30 minutes of training power snatches and overhead squats with only the barbell, and a little bit of cleans. I have to say, I felt I have quite a good grasp on how the snatch should work. Cleans were not that great, I need way more wrist flexibility, it hurt quite a bit.

I used the instructional videos on Pendlay's website, they seem to be quite good.

Quick question, at the top of the snatch, do you still have a hook grip or do you somehow change the grip on the way up?
I wish I had bigger hands

I let go of the hook grip when I catch, i dont think it matters much

im using leangains, IE i fast 16 hours and eat in a 8 hour window, i cycle calories during the week, higher carb, high protein, as little fat as possible on workout days and low carb, high protein and moderat fats on my rest days

with my body type being more exo than meso, I can't get away with no catsup, but I'm always jealous of guys like you!
I'm currently doing 3 hour meal increments, with minimal carbs until thursday, my carb load day! I follow the arnold schwarzenegger meal and lifting guide, and it seems to work quite well for me

i wouldnt say im more meso than exo, im fucking fat dude lol.. i weighed 135 kg a couple of years ago, im down to 92ish now and still cutting, i got ALOT more to lose before im satisfied

if you cut as many calories as i do on a weekly average your bound to lose weight even without cardio hehe.. i have some gains on selective lifts like my deadlift as previously stated and chins/weighted dips but the latter is mroe than likely a side effect of my weight loss

Today rocked! Moved up in basically everything:
Bench: 195x6,205x6,215x6 (little help on last 2 reps).
Incline: 135x6, 155x6, 155x4
Military: 55 lb barbells x 6, 55x6, 60x4
Triceps and other shoulder exercises

Then I ran a mile in 7:40! Last time I ran a mile a couple weeks ago I struggled to do 8:55, but I guess a few swim workouts and an outdoor run workout since then has significantly boosted my cardio! Very pleased about this.

@Catch: I didn't "stubleupon" it, I just found it by accident lol. I've got Misha's channel subscribed on youtube.

Today's workout:

Flat bench: 65kg x 5, 75kg x 3, 85kg x 1 and 3 singles of 90kg. First cycle of 3/5/1 done and it was easy like it should've been. Moving up the working max to 90kg (from 86) for next cycle.

OHP: 3 sets of 55kg x 5 (+2,5kg and felt easy to boot!)

Incline BB BP: 40kg x 8, 50kg x 8, 60kg x 6 and 70kg x 2. I hate this movement (since I suck at it) and it just feels strange. Needs more work.

btw this is hillarious! I think TLHF is spreading out:

I'm chucking in some chin-ups into my routine just cos I can. I tested myself today and currently can do 4-3-3 with some minor kipping. My initial goal is to work it up to 10-10-10. Will I make quicker progress doing assisted chins for starters so I can get in a couple more reps?

work it up to 8-8-8 then start doing weighted chinups with +5kg/10 pounds

well I managed to get to gym, sort of. Done deadlifts and started press but that fucking "trapped nerve" is back and I cudnt lower the 25kg bar without it twinging. Never had a problem wiv press before. Rushed off t work now, will massage n try to get back there tomorrow, grrrrrrr.

U know, how can this trapped nerve hurt for pullups and press (coming down, not the push, and nvr had a problem bfor today) , which are not so similar, but also my bench has always been perfect wholst putting strain on forearms. Also how can it come back when I thought I got rid of it!! No need for an answer, just frustrating

Gotta say, I hate every thread that isn't the H&F about health and fitness. Filled with a lot of wrong information and wrong advice.

On a side note, I walked around my neighborhood for an hour today. Plan to do this every saturday. Low intensity cardio + sun = win.

hi, im an athlete (playing soccer and ultimate frisbee) and id like to improve my speed and conditioning. id like to follow a workout program but i dont know how. jogging 30mins a day just doesnt cut it. could anybody make a program for me?

I am no expert, but when you want to be good at sprits i would advise you to do small quick runs, like 200m x as many times you want, or even 100m.
And 30min run for football player(see what i did there!!)? The game is 90 minutes long, i would recommend at least 7-8km jog or 1h.

My 2 cents...but i am no expert.

For my training, had to skip friday, 5h canoeing is hard! , played a bit of basketball today, but i didnt feel good, so not too much.
