I subluxed my shoulder. Again. This time it was the right instead of the left bringing the grand total to 6 subluxations in about 8 years (4x left and now 2x right). a) how long should I take of weight training? b) press and bench are obv gone, but can I still go squats and d/ls? c) why am I cursed with such shitty shoulders? Thank you!

I’ve been going to the store to get GOMAD, and pitting it in the outside fridge, and consuming it without my mom knowing. And I’ve been making larger tastier sandwiches, but she still insists on making me my lunch. So I forgot to get rid of the lunch she gave me (she maintained I am not competent enough to pack a healthy lunch…) and she blew up about how I am not eating enough blah blah blah. Even though I”ve been eating more than previously by a ton. What should I tell her >.> Another issue is that I was not hungry at all this morning. I got up she was like “oh I made grits, eat them” And I only ate some =/ so she was mad I didn’t eat enough

Might help her understand why you weren't hungry.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! Sounds like a middle of the week BBQ to me. And Froadac keep track of your calories in a journal maybe? Or at least take inventory on everything you put in your body daily so you can recite it on the spot. I know it sounds unnecessary but people give me similar remarks all the time when they see me not eating something. They'll say weird stuff like why am I on a diet when I'm already so skinny and then I'll recite what I ate for breakfast which is usually more than they'll eat in a full day LoL. Moms are strange tho. No matter what you do they're always "concerned" and want to give their 2cents about it even though when it comes to fitness or a weight training program they usually know very little. Too skinny? They're concerned. Lifting weights and exercising? They're concerned. And whatever piece of advice they drop is really just given through fear that you are somehow doing something wrong LoL. Everyone's been there. Just keep that journal and show her. Or become so well versed in what your program is that you can rebut any argument she gives you. But no matter what you do there's one depressing truth. Read at your own risk. + Show Spoiler + They never stop doing that shit. Even when you're 26 and live in another state.

Squat: 290 4-2-3 (wtf) Press: 105 5-4-3 (same as last week) P Clean: 120 5x3 (felt arms pulling on last 2 sets) Chins: 5-4-3 (not progressing at all) Hrm. I think I tried going a bit deeper than usual for squats and that might have increased the difficulty. I'm going to take this opportunity to cut back to 225 and really look at form a lot. Going to stretch my hammies a bit more on rest days to see if I can really get below parallel... I thought I was going pretty deep before but I think my thighs are just hitting around parallel. Edit: Top of my thighs are hitting just around parallel TLDR, will jump off the SS train for a bit and focus on losing fat, maintaining strength and fixing form. Nah, stay on SS but lower the weights. On May 11 2011 12:06 GumThief wrote: been following this thread for awhile now.. love it!! i've been going to the gym for about 8 months now. Generally doing back\bicep , chest, tri, legs, shoulders on different days.. i've started incorporating power cleans a lot more in my routines.. its a beast of a workout i must say. did some deadlifts today on my back day @ 225x5x3. Had a lot of reservations at the end due to my hands and the bar being so damn slick. Any suggestions? gloves er something? Maybe ill just do it at the beginning of my routine so i'm less sweaty. anyways keep up the good work guys. feel free to critique my routines if you think/know yours is better!!!! Full body routine is better than that split

Someone sounded like they wouldn't enjoy eating that much, so I'm just reassuring him that it doesn't matter. Anecdotally, I've known people who need more than the 1g/lbs to grow significantly more so.... for what that's worth. For athletic performance is a bit different than if you're trying to mass gain. My main issue is that at the bottom of my squats, i feel a strange tension (almost feels muscular) on the inside of my left knee. I asked one of the staff at my gym, and he suggested it was due to me placing too much weight on the balls of my feet, though it strikes me that this would create tension in the front of the joint. Does anyone have any experience with similar pains?

Does anyone have any experience with similar pains? Just a shot in the dark, but if it's right at the joint and on the inside that sounds like the MCL? You maybe be somehow putting too much of the load on the inside parts of your knees. Are your toes pointed out enough? Or are your feet too wide? Those would be my guesses but don't take my word for it.

It only shows up right as I push off from the bottom of my lift. I can't get you a video for a while, as I don't have a camera at my uni place. I can ask around my buddy's for someone with a digital camera, but i may not be able to find anything for a while.

I just found this hilariously bad website. Among incomplete and overall poor nutrition information it has a pretty long list of calories burned during different activities. I was already kinda looking at it quite skeptically and then I saw that apparently an hour of gymnastics and an hour of playing hackey sack in the schoolyard burns the same amount of calories. ![]() http://www.nutristrategy.com/caloriesburned.htm
