Dear Liquid community, Let me introduce you a little project known as the eSport Betting League. https://www.esbl.co is a free betting website for Starcraft 2. Matches are reeled in from all major tournaments so everything is kept up to date. The website provides a points and ranking system so you know how well you're keeping up with the best betters around. The front page has all the important stuff like new matches to bet on. After a quick n easy registration, you've got 100 eDollars to make the magic happen. From there, you're on your own.
Some more words from the guys in charge of the website itself: To sum up, our league in three points: 1. We're trying to cover as many of the big tournaments as possible (https://esbl.co/calendar/). eSBL can thus provide a centralized betting website. We also plan to expand our coverage to other games (and currently support League of Legends). It’s extremely easy to create new tournaments and matches, and we would be very happy to give an administration account to anyone in charge of an event. Then, you will be able to plug our betting javascript module to your own website, more visit for you and more dynamism for your website.
2. Users can compete against everyone else on the website, and with their friends. Rankings are calculated based on results, risk incurred, etc. You can take a look at a first round of ranking based on a private alpha release at https://esbl.co/ranking/. You can update your rival list at any moment and know how good you are compared to your friends. Are you ready for the competition?
3. Betting is absolutely free; we want to enhance the eSport viewing experience by bringing friends together to compete on their predictions. Indeed, this website was inspired from the emails my friends and I would send each other betting on the outcomes of GSL tournaments. But we believe everything is better with the proper interface.
But why should you join our league when you already have all those great betting modules on community websites (someone said liquidbet, yeah we are big fans too)? Fantasy esport will be our only focus, we will listen to everything you suggest and add new challenging entertainment as often as possible. The ranking system is already a nice proof of all the thinking we have put into making esport betting more fun and competitive. The four categories are Accuracy (based directly on your correct and incorrect bets), Efficiency (how much money you made during the period), Participation (to reward those who take risks by betting on everything) and Prosperity (your actual amount of money at the end of the period). The participant of the league with the best score for a category will receive a mark of 100, while the worst member will receive 0.
Oh yeah, one last thing, we thought you might feel alone at the beginning, so we found two pros ready to compete against you. You've probably heard of him: All Killer and North American Terran FXOqxc. In addition, MoMaN, the French Zerg player from the team Virus is going to predict and compete as well. Do you think you have what it takes to compete with these professionals?
We are really excited to have our own topic on team liquid, launched by qxc and supported by MoMaN. This is just so cool.
We are expecting a lot of feedbacks from you guys, this community is by far the most interesting and dynamic you can find about Stacraft II and esports in general (we believe it though).
We have a weekly development planning. The next Sunday's update will include : - The integrated forum : we have decided to wait one more week to launch it because we prefer to centralize all the comments on tl. - The cross-domain javascript bets, for other website that wants to use our application (the main page and the match pages of our website are actually using it, with the biggest of the three possible designs for bets). - The removal of the left frame of the website. The design changed a lot as a result of this week's update, and two frames are now useless.
But we will be very happy to add anything you might suggest at the top of this list (or the next one).
I hope you will have as much fun using the website as we had doing it.
On November 01 2011 07:20 Draconicfire wrote: Are there going to be prizes or is this just for funzies?
Prizes will be added for season 2 (which will start in one month more or less) at the end of the actual beta. It will give us the time to check if the ranking system is balanced enough.
Created account, got confirmation e-mail and linked to a confirmation screen, confirmation screen does not accept my password which contains a period even though the sign-up screen does ): sadness grows in my heart.
wow nice. Btw why can't I bet on Ryung vs. Yugioh?
You mean you have issues betting on one of the bet ? Or you would like to bet on the exact match Ryung vs Yugioh which is a part of the group ?
If it's the second, we have decided to avoid this bets for the moment when they are part of a group, but we are working on a "bet on a tournament/group tree" new module.

What is your account ? I'll activate it manually. Note that the account is case-sensitive (which is a design flaw I should correct). I'll try to reproduce your issue.

I just create an account with this password : R%%xaP@i8SjT. and no issues for me (period at the end). Send me a private message on tl with more details please (and you account name so I can activate it).
And again the username is case sensitive during the login (sorry).
Whats with the .co domain LOL. We are not from Columbia.
As of July 20, 2010, any company, organization, or entrepreneur can use a .CO domain for their online branding needs. Some examples include Twitter (t.co), AngelList (Angel.co), ENTER (Enter.co), and Overstock (O.co).
For the story, the .com is available. So we decided to commit on this name at the beginning of the project. And when we discovered it was available but for 6k$, we were already used to the name so we switched for the .co version =-).

Its nice site, must of taken a lot of time and money to make. Is it all custom or is it a CMS?

Time is the real issue. All custom using the django framework (python equivalent to rails, less mature but still great when you enjoy python). One guy on the code, one guy on the design and two friends to update daily.

It's crazy that 10% of your starting bankroll is the minimum you can bet. It should be 1% (e$1) so the players actually can have even some sort of resource management instead of pure luck-based gambling. And anyone that would argue against the last part have no clue about betting.
Should be an easy fix to allow lower than e$10 bets though.
This is great signed up and have place $90 worth of bets so hopeuflly they come through.
Just wondering though should the time shown in the top left change to reflect the time zone that i chose in my profile? It didn't really seem to have an effect on anything including the time when the games are being played.

So it's important to understand the system (after one month of alpha, we have started to be good at playing with the different marks of the ranking and the daily refill). You get 50 eDol every day at midnight (UTC), if you are under 100 eDol. So it's really funny and efficient to play aggressively at the beginning, because even if you fail most of your bets, you still get the mighty refill. After some successes, you will pass the 400 eDol limit, which changes a lot of things. It was designed to permit that after a huge failure (get back under 200 eDol), it isn't painfull to restack.
The reason why we don't authorize betting under $10 is very simple. It's not a real money website so people doesn't want to bother with cents (seriously). So many 1.1 to 1.9 odds would be almost useless with smaller values.
Please give it a try, and I would love to see another feedback in a while. The beta will probably last 1 month to correct exactly those unbalanced issues.
Also, down the line, I think a mobile app for IOS/android would rock hard.
We feel the same =-).
anyway to earn edollars?
Every day at midnight (UTC) if you are under 100. Sorry you probably missed the first round.
NSL = NASL?
That's right, the designer gave me the corrected version yesterday and I forgot to push it online, I'll fix it in 5 minutes.
Just wondering though should the time shown in the top left change to reflect the time zone that i chose in my profile? It didn't really seem to have an effect on anything including the time when the games are being played.
So this is one of my biggest concern. It is actually very simple to switch from the actual display to a timezone based one. Actually it was like that at the beginning. And I agree, it's better for the overall experience of an user on eSBL. But when you start watching 4 - 5 different tournaments (vacations, I miss you) and you have to switch between all the website timezone, it's just painful. I agree with Artosis (I don't remember the exact gsl match for this comment), everything would be better if every tournaments would display the UTC time (which in particular never changes for summer and winter). I haven't decided yet, I might finish by display both. but thanks for the feedback, it helps.
Seems like a great idea and a great website. Would like some way to make private leagues in there though. I've played around with Rivals, and you get something that's similar to a private league, but not very detailed.
On November 01 2011 22:47 Xalorian wrote: hmm, how? Maybe i'm just blind, the only options I saw was betting on the #1 winner or the two winners, in any order.
LayZRR, you are misunderstanding, this is a bet on who will win Group B so it's between the 4 player if it was a specific match you would have only 2 players to choose from not 4 (see the NASL bets for example).
I'm also not getting the confirmation e-mail. I tried to make a second account with the same e-mail, it works but I don't have any confirmation e-mail...

same for me. obviously checked spam (I'm not stupid)
Are you guys sure that your subscription went fine? On Mozilla, first time i tried, I had to turn on referer header or my submit was not working at all.

Great clue, thanks so much, I'm going to check that.
I'll put the website in maintenance mode for 20 minutes. I'll activate all the account manually and remove the mail confirmation until the issue is stabilized. Thanks you for your patience.

Cool, thx for reacting fast, I can't wait to discover the site, it looks awesome
Is there any way to erase my bet? I made a bet in a group and i wana change it, but i dont find how.
We have this feature in our (desperately long) list. It's not at the top, sorry.

Yeah, I agree, the rival list was added at the last minute. We need to make something better out of it before the end of season 1. We'll create a dedicated thread on our forum next week to ask what you really want as private leagues.
the hell? i bet on group A and B of GSL code S but you guys messed up the players arrangement. I DEMAND MONEY RETURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All your eDol are belong to us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it ! My first feedback would be that it feels kinda weird that you have to bet minimum 10% of your basic stake on any bet you wanna make.. What happens if you reach 0 ?

How will MLG work? Since the matches are played so close to each other, can we have to bet between matches or will it just be group winners and grand champion? Or will it be a bracket like for TSL3 on tl?

We are working on a "bet on a tournament/group tree" module. I have no idea for the release date though (but it won't be for the next mlg :/). Until then, we have to decide between intense betting week end (which might be a lot of fun for everyone who spends the entire mlg watching matches) with hourly refill, or group winners.

Don't been to be the cloud on a sunny day, but isn't this the same thing as gosubets?
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer to this question =-).
Let's explain the idea behind esbl. I have been using gosubet and liquidbet for a long time, and I was very happy with them, but I felt like some new features would be great. We had also a private betting league by mail using excel with my friends (with 10$ under the table), but you know, excel ... And we were like "damn, we should have a unique website to do this".
So I don't say we have a lot of very new and cool features for the moment, we worked mostly on the design (make the betting efficient and enjoyable) during the past month. But the point is, we are committed on this exact subject, to create a centralized place for fantasy esport (we won't make articles, organized events, post news, etc. ; too many great websites for that).
And I hope that a lot of websites will use our betting API (starting next week).
The rumor flying around is that if you guess the winner successfully of 100 games straight, Kevin Riley himself will sign his bandana and hand-deliver it to you while riding a rainbow unicorn.

You are far behind the awesomeness of the 100 games prize. Just sayin'.

Any plans to provide an API?
Of course. The bets on the main page are already using (a part of) the API (with the biggest available design). We just have some cross-domain security issues we want to resolve first.
However, I ran into a problem. I clicked on a thing to bet, but then I closed the window that came up (the one that asks you how much you want to bet) -- now I can't submit a bet for that match since it says that I either submitted a bet already, am not logged in, or the bet is closed.

Thanks for reporting. I'm not able to reproduce this error. Can you send me a PM with the browser you are using ? Did this error continue after a refresh ? None choice for the bet are blue ? If there is one, was it a choice you made ?

But aren't I correct that your esbl will not deal with real bets, just the 100 starting points you mentioned?

It's not in our todo list for the moment for a lot of reasons, it might never be and it won't until we feel like we have provided everything for the fantasy part.
To be honest, we just don't want to deal with all the legal bullshit. I prefer working on the API, mobile app, new modules, etc. than dealing with swindler. It's a solo project for the moment (despite the design and daily updates), made mostly for our own pleasure (but we love you guys, use it !), so don't expect anything "real money" for the moment.
Sorry for those who expects this a lot. But feel free to put your friends on your rival list and add the $10 under the table =-).
I really hope that there will be a site where you can bet real money on the games. It would be appealing for me anyway, games get so much more intresting when there are some money on the line. Until that happen i will just use this site ^^

I think there are legality issues associated with that, unfortunately. The US is really strict about online gambling, as we have seen from recent issues with Poker.
How does the Gravatar thing exactly work ? I registered, chose an avatar, but don't know how to connect it with my esbl account
I see your avatar on the website, maybe just a cache issue ? The advantage with gravatar is, as long as you have setup your account, every website using the service will display your avatar now if you register with the same email address. Being very lazy, I love this concept.
I still cannot confirm my inscription after like 2 days lol
Hello, I removed the activation mail for the moment because the mailserver of my host doesn't permit the actual rush So all the account are automatically activated. You can log in directly ! (You must have received the mail just before I shut down theconfirmation mail feature). Thanks for reporting though and sorry for this =-).
Feels a bit non-serious to use a .colombia country domain if you are aiming for an international audience. The overall presentation and design of the site is very cluttered as well.
While a dark background with light text can work in some cases, you are certainly not doing yourself any favors by having it, mixing it every other line certainly doesn't help your cause either. I doubt any of the worlds top 100 sites (with the possible exception of some porn sites) run with a dark background and light text.
Overall a good idea but with some odd choices in the execution (colombian domain, mixing dark and white background/text every other line, cluttered).

Even some of the largest betting sites have esports sections, such as pinnaclesports. Just check http://www.pinnaclesports.com/ and click esports to the left. Currently active are ASUS ROG Tournament and GSL.

It was a complicated choice. The designer and I have some basics about web design and readability, but we knew from the beginning there would be very few text on the website. We don't want to compete against the news and community websites (in fact we want to propose our API to them). So we concluded that a dark design was a possibility, that would help us being more original, with almost nothing to loose for the users. Plus it's closer to sc2 (which is by far our favorite game and first target, sorry for the lol fans, we are trying to find more tournaments worth following). It's of course a possibility to provide a more standard lighter design as a choice. It's not at the top of the priority list, but we'll keep it in mind. We would love to hear other feedback about the design by the way, to get the general feeling.

I am well aware of .co-domains. I even own one myself (for typo traffic).
They may become generally acceptable one day and I've certainly considered actually using a .co-domain myself for a rather serious site, however, I felt that it is too early to be acceptable just yet.
In the end, one just tries to make it as easy as possible for oneself and I think you made it harder for yourself by having both a .co-domain and a dark website. Though, I wouldn't say either of them are wrong per se, but it just makes it harder to get recognition.
However, I appreciate your response and as I love web projects and esports, I wish you the best of luck,

Hmm, so forfeits are refunded? I haven't really ever used anything like this before. Is that standard?
We clearly want to cover more games but it is really a matter of more people to work on the updates, let some time to the project, you will have a good surprise sooner or later.

This is right, forfeits are refunded. This is pretty standard from my experience. I may be wrong.
Are there any threads on TL or the eSBL website to discuss bets?
For the time being I'd imagine its perfectly acceptable to do that here being cautious of spoilers. On that note lets go Sheth come on 2-0!
Sure, feel free to use this topic, we are really interested on any kind of feedback (live excitement on the results are clearly a part of it). You will have a free space to discuss the bets directly on eSBL next week, but we prefer to let you post on team liquid as long as possible (hard to compete against the dynamism of this forum, we need that).

I don't understand. Will there be a way to programmatically interact with your service?
I have not seen any betting site provide a REST API.
In short, we want something that looks like the facebook's like box. Gathering the bets from our domain to display them everywhere, offering the possibility to bet directly from any website that wants a betting module. With the possibility later for manager to update their tournaments direcly on eSBL (we prefer being in control for the moment).
I'm still trying to figure out what should be the best way, not painful for the other webmasters, not too broadband intensive for us and not insecure for the users. In the technical point of view, I got stuck with the ajax POST cross-domain request I wanted to use to submit the bet value (which I'm using on eSBL at the moment), and I'm testing a new way.

He is right, thanks for the answer. We are not highlighting this feature because it's just an introduction of what we want to do with friends. I mean look at the participants page, I really need to spend some hours on this one =-). But feel free to use it of course !

Most of the widgets like the facebook/twitter buttons are just embedding javascript which creates links that then open a new window, usually https. There plenty of tutorials for that.
What I was referring to was a proper REST API that allows programmatic access. For instance a GET request with a bnet id that return a json / xml list of the bets on that player, matches played, and a POST request that lets the tournament organizer submit match results.
It sounds like the answer is no and that you just expect people to go fill out the results manually. That is how other betting sites work, which is not very interesting from a tool or data prospective. Plenty of time for that later though. Best of luck.

Sure, but for a lot a reasons, I won't push it if I'm not absolutely sure it's safe and not too broadband intensive. And most of those tutos don't match those goals very well.
For instance a GET request with a bnet id that return a json / xml list of the bets on that player
This is exactly the main idea of what I want to propose at the end of the week (for players, teams, tournaments, matches and the full list of the current open bets (aka main page)). example (you need to get the json over ajax though, it will 404 over http): full list : https://www.esbl.co/bets/ match : https://www.esbl.co/bets/match/216/ Using the bnet id for players is a good idea, I didn't think about it, but it makes a lot of sense.
matches played
I am not sure a lot of people will be interested in more than the bets, you can find way more information on community websites (and liquipedia). Especially because we don't plan on updating the database with older matches.
a POST request that lets the tournament organizer submit match results.
For the moment it's easier to do the update ourselves, and later to let the managers update directly on eSBL. But you are right, let the administration be cross-domain could be the ultimate objective.
I feel like we have mostly the same expectation and ideas, but you are two months ahead of us. Those are very interesting advice though.
I need a mini-Primadog or Mrbamboo sitting on my shoulder telling me who to pick. On that note, you should get mrbamboo to write an article to help people in their betting. He's quite the gosu in Fantasy.
This is a great idea. The kind of article the website could use.
would love to see an iphone/android app for this at some point in the future.
The apps, probably not in a near future. But we are working on a mobile version of the main page.
I found a little issue in the profile. The "last connexion" details seems to not work, it stays the same as registration date.
Did you ever disconnect ? I do a lot (because I'm debugging a lot ^^) and my last log in is correct. But you are right, it's not a useful info, I should remove it.
Advantage for those who follow the thread, the facebook or the twitter, we just decided to cover the Asus ROG. If you kept some eDollars (or were very efficient on the NASL/GSL this morning), feel free to bet. We will cover tomorrow by opening the bets for both finales as soon as the results are updated. We hope this will make this tournament even more fun to watch.
I think there's a fairly major problem with the betting. When calculating the payout from a winning bet, it uses the final odds after betting is closed for that match, rather than the odds that exist at the time the individual bet was placed.
For instance, I bet on Idra vs Sjow for Idra, at 1.5, but I only got given 1.3 on my bet, because that was the odds when the betting ended.

Hello, the FAQ warns against that. Our main idea is to improve the competition aspect, so winners are taking exactly losers money, no more (a little because it's round to the superior decimal) no less. Every time you win, you can enjoy the fact that your money was taken from someone else =-). So the odds are recalculated every 15 minutes (and a last time before the validation, you are right) according to users betting, and obviously you can have some bad surprises. Obviously there is a slightly unfair advantage between someone that will log to eSBL multiple times every day to participate at the last minute to every bet, and the standard one visit/day (all bets for the day after are opened at midnight UTC). But, it was designed that way.

Well, suit yourself, but this is a major problem for me which will stop me playing. I'm usually asleep when betting closes and don't want to be disadvantaged because of major unpredicted swings in votes. Every winning bet I've made so far has returned less than I expected because the votes changed against my favour.
This system completely invalidates standard betting strategies which are all based on static odds. High street bookmakers manage to make winners' money=losers' money (with a small % take for themselves) *and* have static odds for individual bets, so I'm not sure why you can't. I'm sure the maths of balancing such a system would be easy to find.
I really don't understand how such a broken system improves the competition aspect either.
Anyway, you seem to have made a thought-out decision, though I thoroughly disagree with your reasoning. I guess I'll have to go back to my spreadsheet system based on real betting sites.
Oh btw since Softball conceded his series to HwangSin, does that count as Hwangsin's victory and a 2-0 win? Or is the entire bet scrubbed away? I think it would be slightly unfair to do the latter as the match was never rescheduled nor forfeited by both sides.

The timezone issue is interesting, I have to make some numbers of who get stuck because of that depending on the tournaments. We thought at first that it would be pretty balanced because of the high quantity of esport tournaments nowadays, but it's clearly not that simple (especially with gsl and nasl matches around the same time).

It's not that hard to implement but we lack the database for the moment. We need a lot more results for each player to do the maths, which will mostly be a question of time, every week adds matches and results to the record. We feel that incorrect static odds would be a lot worse than the actual system.
To be precise, as far as my knowledge go (but I would love to hear advice from a professional), bookmakers are making almost no money on expected results but A LOT from upsets. Their static odds for the upsets, even if they look high, aren't even close to the reality.
I really don't understand how such a broken system improves the competition aspect either.
Maybe you didn't win an upset yet, those who bet on SuperNova (16.2) have a slightly idea of what I mean. If you decide to compete against those who take the safe choice, it might end up a huge success. Because when the safe choice loses 0.1 (like you saw), the upset odds win 1 to 3.

Nothing is decided during the season 1 / beta. I'm pretty sure we will open a topic about the odds (because it's obviously a major point) on our forum. It's why feedback such as yourself is very important.

Sorry but it sounds really logic to us to cancel the bets when the match wasn't played. Maybe a poll on our forum next week about this issue. We'll see. But for today, this match will be canceled (sorry).

Hmm, maybe I didn't explain myself well enough. High street bookmakers don't just set static odds for matches when they open betting, and then just leave it. Rather, they have dynamic odds that adjust based on the amount of money on either side. Say an individual person, Bob, makes a bet of $10, on Idra in an Idra vs MVP matchup. At the time he makes the bet, the odds are 3/1 for Idra. But the odds will continue to be adjusted based on betting trends. Say, later on, people bet large money on Idra cause they think he's underrated, then maybe the odds will shift to 2/1. Then another individual, Jon, makes another $10 bet on Idra. In this situation, if Idra wins, then Bob will make $30, and Jon only $20. In your system, both Bob and Jon only win $20, which is unfair to Bob, as he made his bet based on 3/1 odds, not 2/1 odds.
Bookmakers do not rely on chance at all. They set the odds on either side with a small profit margin, and continually adjust those odds based on how much money is on either side. They'll make a profit no matter who wins (presuming that enough total money has been bet on either side - if the sums are too small, instabilities arise for several reasons which I won't explain here.) Obviously you don't need to set a profit margin into your odds cause it's only virtual money you're dealing with, but I think you should try to match the bookies' systems in its other respects.
There are parts I'm unsure of, of course, like how to set the initial odds (which would require player data, as you outline above). Also, such a system might have issues because people could take advantage of the initial instability of a bet (before sufficient money has been invested to prevent huge swings.) But I still think it's much better than continually adjusting the odds of a person's bet after that person has made the bet and gone to sleep.
Anyway, I apologise - I was too quick to condemn the whole project. It just sounded in your first reply like you already have your mind made up on this topic. I'll keep an eye on this with interest, though I still only intend to participate if it's "fixed". ;P
I would really love to see my entire history of bets formatted in the same that it's done on the "Your Bets" side panel. I understand that there is a list of my entire betting history if I click the box with my bank sum within my profile, but they aren't labeled in a friendly way.
On a different note, I absolutely love this site! Keep up the great work!

This. The history can be very cluttered and confusing to sift through. At the very least the bets should be organized by day.
I'm starting to wish we were betting real money. It turns out I'm quite good at predictions :D
Anyway, I'm really loving the idea and the site works very well. I always enjoyed Liquibets, but since it had only GSL and NASL I felt it was quite limited. I hope you can keep it growing with the addition of more and more tournaments. I'm currently loving the presence of the ASUS ROG (and the fact that I'm sniping a lot of exact scores ♥).
Hey, had a quick skim of the thread and don't think it's been mentioned, what I'd really like you guys to do is have titles/info on the matches, give them some relevance. On the main page I've got "grand finals" (idra vs select) with no reference to the ASUS ROG. Then I've got a variety of matches which I assume are NASL, but I have no way of telling whether they're NASL, showmatches, arm wrestling, off race, whatever. Not only would it make it more interesting, but would also influence my betting (whether it's offline or online for example).
There is a small issue on the display of our amount of euros once we reach 1K (Yes, I'm totally bragging, I played my first week of esbl like a fucking boss ^^) :

I don't want to spoil too much, but you will like sunday update.

Congrats ! Solved in Sunday update.
We decided not to do any maintenance during the week (it was so much easier when none was on the website), so IE fix will only be pushed on Sunday too. If you have friends telling they don't understand how it works or that nothing is working, ask them to use FF or chrome until Sunday midnight UTC.
can you make the a page of last bets up to like 25 or so because after a while i can't see the older one, can't tell if i won or not
With Sunday update, the "Your bets" on the right menu will display all the bets of the last 24 hours, and the one in your profile will display all the bets of the last 48 hours. Next week, I'll do a proper bets history page (with stats and day selection).
We decided to push a part of Sunday update in advance. Most of the visual changes. Feedback would be appreciated by the designer =-). I'll make a proper patch note tomorrow with the rest of the update. This first part solves the ie9 issues. You can tell to your internet explorer friends to come back, the bets will work.

Huge improvement. I'm loving the tabs, and overall there are much better space management and optimisation.

Looks really good ^^
The tab navigation is awesome! Hopefully betting history will be in tomorrow.
Monday's bets are open (NASL and GSL). There is clearly too many, we are thinking of improving the daily refill (which was suggested by some of you) after Sunday's update (so the week ranking won't be impacted by this change).
One feature I would like is the ability to bet on multiple entries when there are more than 2 options. I'm assuming you're using a correct formula so it wouldn't be possible to abuse it, and that's a common practice when doing real bets to try and maximise the winning chance.
The reason I'm asking for it now is because this happened: + Show Spoiler +
and I know it sounds obvious now, but given that high payout I actually would have liked to put a tenner on that just in case.

Also, 6 extremely happy people :D
Very lucky indeed =-). It's a good idea and we are positive about making a topic to discuss the bets and odds system on the forum next week. Changing the bets (which was suggested before) sounds like a nice possibility too, and would require the same kind of changes in the API. I won't rush any change to the bet system for tomorrow's update though.
Thx to the guy who just did a blank research on the participants page (I just received the crash mail). We didn't see this bug during the test. It will be corrected tomorrow.
At midnight (UTC), the website will go into maintenance mode for update and ranking generation. Because it's the first one in real condition, it could take a while.
Even though it cannot be abused since there are no multiple bets on the same item, the NASL Dimaga vs TT1 appears to be miscalculated. The formula I use to verify if the odds are valid is (b - 1) * a <= b given a <= b.
In that game Dimaga's payout is 1.2, TT1's 7.1. If you apply it to the formula you get 6.1 * 1.2 = 7.32 > 7.1.
Or to put it with a practical example: You bet 10 on TT1, 60 on Dimaga. You invested 70. If TT1 wins you get back 71, if Dimaga does you get 72. You always win.
Again, this is currently irrelevant since we can't bet on both, but it looks like there's a minor glitch in the code somewhere (this is the first time I found this problem across ~30 games). If you're planning on implementing multiple bets on the same game you might want to check it out.
Between 10 minutes and 4 hours =o. You should want to bet to everything before the maintenance.

The odds are round to the superior number. If the formula gives 1.2365548 => 1.3 (we use the rounded number). Fake money + only one choice == we are very kind. But thank you very much for pointing the issue, I'm not sure I would have made the connection during a switch to multiple choices.
Hello, I just finished to generate the ranking. Keep in mind, it's the first its generated with more than 50 participants, the marks will probably require some balancing in the future. The ranking page is over-slow, it's something I will fix in an incoming reboot but feel free to have a look until then. I'll make a proper patch note as soon as everything is corrected.
After the fix, I got the standard 50 minerals if your total was under 100 (mine was 0). But after a while the system added another 50 minerals to get me to 100. New money system or a bug?
And the IPL Pacific Qualifiers are tonight. It should be covered.

Thx for reporting. A real good guy Greg =-). I did a mistake, I didn't wait for the daily refill (at midnight 05) when I tried to update. So the server crashed during the refill. I deceided to make a second refill, so some of you got a double one. It won't change must thing though, because the daily refill will be bigger starting tomorrow (we are still trying to decide between 100 and 150).
And the IPL Pacific Qualifiers are tonight. It should be covered.
I'll have a look, if it's easy to cover we will, but we lack a bit of sleep after those days of update.
youhou, got second ! 2K made this week, it's gonna be hard to keep the rythm ^^
Yeah it's really hard to maintain the efficiency mark when you have a lot of money. A lot of us tried and failed during the alpha phase. But you can clearly target the 300/400 by playing safe.
I've been having a lot of issues with the mobile site. I can log in, but I can't do much else.
Han spoiler, it was the big announcement !!! It should work now though (you may have to empty your cache). My friend in charge of that will fix the zoom on android (which makes betting not that easy).

Too many players to add on the website to create the groups. Need sleep. But we'll see for the Ro16 and finales tomorrow. I hope cArn will pass the group stage =-).
Big changes: - Left menu has been removed, which will permit to create modules that takes a lot less height. Bets will be rethink with that in mind, so you will have less to scroll. - Tabs were added in the main page. Every tournament has its own tab, and the closed bets are separated from the rest (to avoid spoiler). The open tab by default contains the bets with the shortest deadline. - A mobile version of the main page, it still needs some improvement (some issue with the zoom on Android for example) but it should be way more easy for those who wants to bet everywhere at any time ! - Forum was added but will be ""hidden"" while the team liquid sponsored thread is open. It's fully hand made which will offer a lot of opportunities later, but you might find some missing basic features at first. - Friends, you have some ? Refer them to the website using the refer a friend feature (reed more on the faq)
Details: - qxc and MoMaN appear directly on the right menu top ranking - Participant page has been remade to deal with the high number of registration last week (thank you), you can now search. - Ranking page was optimized, and we added a page selection. - The number of bets displayed in the "Your bets" was rethink.
Post fix, tomorrow we will make another reboot to: - Un-hidden the forum - Calculate the season ranking, which won't be really interesting because it's the first week (so week ranking == season ranking) - Change the daily refill from 50 to 100 (and the refill limit/registration start from 100 to 200)
Next week priority list: - Finish the API for the other websites. - Change the visual of some old tables, especially players, teams and participants. - A big work on the calendar to display weeks and seasons statistics, players bet history, etc. - A big surprise that will be announced around Wednesday.
Feel free to subscribe to the facebook or twitter account, in case of we lose one or two days between the closure of this topic and the opening of the forum.
Hi, i just registered on TL to tell you that your site is awesome :-) Spent most of my time this weekend to bet and watch games instead of playing myself ^^
But: Can you please add a possibility to delete accounts? Would be really nice; thanks
Wouldn't be better if "Your Bets" section have some additional information like: Who VS Who When? (time left to match start :D) Where to See (stream link)
Also I've noticed that not all of my bets are displayed... Hard to follow matches I would like to see (because I betted on them ) I think it would give eSBL a new role as a new tool for keeping track of particularly important matches. :D
I wish the bet list at the bottom of the profile was more complete, with the amount of eDollars earned or lost on each bet, in particular, and all the history of our bets too
@CosmicSpiral You get a refill every night at 0:00 UTC
On other note: MVP vs Supernova, TeamLiquid eventcalender said its a best of three. Dont know if thats true or wrong as i havent seen any infos on GomTV :-)
I thought the topic was going to get closed, cool =-).

I searched the web for this info (seriously) and got contradictory answers. I'll cancel the bet if it's not :/.

No, I just wanted to make a new account. Felt like I was being sloppy with my choices and started over.
You could always cancel the score bet and leave the winner bet open.

The ranking is really weekly based, so making a few mistakes isn't that awful and make a bad week isn't final. I had a very bad week all-ining on MvP for the gsl finale :/ But it's pretty easy to get a high efficiency mark the week after. Plus participation and accuracy aren't money based so ... Creating a new account isn't really a good choice, but feel free to do so, there is no limitation on the mail address =-).

Yeah, don't worry, it was the idea.
It wasn't about the total money as much as disappointment in my choices. I put way too money into score bets and it canceled out all my good winner bets.

It's easy to get tempted by the score bet, especially on a bo3 where the winner is known (1.1 odd), and the 2-0 is highly possible, and still has a decent 1.8-2.4 odd. I know how you fill =-).
It would be nice for there to be an explanation (on the site) when a bet is cancelled though. I was especially disappointed to see the Sheth vs White-Ra bet cancelled, and not knowing why is annoying
It's nice to see lots of active feedback on this thread

Good point, I should add an additional information for each match. Will work on that.

You should add this bit of info to the OP, since it's likely to go unread as soon as we reach page 12.
I just bet 100 points on CoCa before i heard about him dropping out of Code S! Am I fucked or do I get a refund? lol >.<
Ok I have a really important meeting at noon (PST), I'll find a way to deal with this when I'll come back. Then I'll post on twitter and facebook so you'll know you can change you bet.
i don't understand.. i had 300 on leenock against huk and leenock won but i have 0 adn it says that my bez is failure? wtf
Ok we really need to make something for the group bets, you are not the only one to make the mistake (because it's not clear). The first bet is the bet on who will win the entire serie, so it's MMA (2-0) before Leenok (2-1).
