Oha, Kulas Ravine in the mappool - this sounds interesting. Unfortunately the cuppage doesn't say anything about casters. And no ukrainian citizens allowed to play? And there are a lot of other countrys where good players are from aswell which are not listed in the "eligable to play" list. (may be there are some problems regarding shipping the products?)
Anyhow the prizes look good, could be an awesome tournament.

To be fair, it is European , assuming you're actually in South Africa that would pretty much rule you out - sorry!

They can , get yourself registered!
|
why such a random country restriction?
|
sad that they left Belgium out, while all of its bordering countries are in it
|
country selection is annoying to say the least
United Kingdom, Germany, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Poland and Russia
you know europe is a just a tiny bit larger than those countries, granted germany IZ STRONG ESPORTS. disappointing
|
This is the thanks we Americans get for saving all your country's asses in WW2? Gawd!
But on a serious note, why did you exclude so many countries, whats the problem with it ):
|
Do they really think they are going to get 256 players for each qual with those country restrictions?
|
its a european challenge, the restrictions for europe are kinda bad..
But maybe they will make another challenges with other country restrictions^^
|
People who are wondering about the country restrictions...
Europe isn't a single big country like the US is, and every country in europe has different laws when it comes to gambling/competitions that involve prizes. Most countries even have seperate rules (more stricter rules) when it comes to competitions that are hosted in another country.
So in short, you'd need a staff of fulltime lawyers just to make sure what countries are eligable(remember, countries also change their laws from time to time), and if it's a grayzone, it's usually better to exclude that country instead of the risk of getting sued bigtime.
|
We had one on the LA server with the same prizes
|
Oh come on, I'll be 18 on march...;___;!
I'll follow this tournament nontheless

For Romanians who are asking about why Romania is out. We are out in a lot of esports competitions because the laws in Romania consider video games as gambling.
|
There are alot of good players from Serbia! Why cant they join ?

i mean i dont understand this - why exclude those countrys if in other cups its no problem at all? . would be nice if someone would explain this too me
|
This is going to be so awesome Nice prize
|
My gues is that the listed countries are the ones in Europe that allienware is officialy present in. Ex. they have alienwares distibutors, support etc for thoes countries. Its a marketing event for them. Why should they advertise a products in the country they dont sell theirs products to?
|
In many countries there´s a certain threshold on which one can earn money or valuable items in a competition. After that it´s either illegal or costs a ton of taxes.
Blizzard always limits themselves to the countries that have laws allowing them to do it. That´s why the Danish people can´t use recruit a friend with WoW, as due to Danish law it is an unfair advantage i.e. gambling.
|
This is gonna be my first tournament - really exciting

Beastyqt RAGEDaut Shmi VladoicA zljo
Top/Mid master league... And both Beasty and Daut are pro players!
|
@PET, no, that are miss understanding rules. Games like StarCraft, Quake3, Counter-Strike and any other games where you DON'T pay any fee to join the competitions or the games you pay only once to buy them, are NOT cosiderate gamblings.
Games like WoW and any other games where you pay every week/month and so on are in the same "domain" as gambling and are not "supported" for some countries do to laws, BUT, even then they are not illegal.

Yeah, that kind of sketched me out a bit as well. Hopefully (I guess) none of the participants become super-gosu pros known throughout every household around the globe within the next 5 years, or else they might regret their decision.
Will this tournament be streamed at all?

All that is saying is that the tournament winner can be identified as being the winner of the specific tournament in any media published for up to five years without paying royalties. It's a perfectly normal thing to do and shouldn't be a negative factor for anyone.

It's sad to see so few countries which can enter in this contest.
|
Can I enter the tournament just for the sake of playing it ?
|
at what time check in start plz ?

No support for my country(a bit understandably) though there is too much personal information they require so even if it was listed I would not have participated.

Dude, you're from Denmark - you should know eSports is in general considered as gamling here aswell. Plus it's illegal in Denmark to make a competition where you need to pay to enter (hence WoW-arena is illegal as a tournament in Denmark), so not sure if SC2 tournies are actually allowed (you need to buy SC2, right?).
And another thing, money earned - UNLESS through Danske Spil (the government bookmaker) you need to pay income taxes on your money won through bets and gambling. Awesome country, huh ?

Of course SC2 tournies are legal.. Thats like saying that chess-tournaments should be banned because someone has to pay for the board and pieces..

I just read your post another time - And you are wrong on alot of levels... Do you know that we have had at least 8 Starcraft 2 tournaments in Copenhagen alone since release?
And no, E-sports isn't gambling!

Don't run your mouth unless you have at least a clue of what you're talking about..

all those arguments do not validate the exclusion of austria. on the other hand there is not much of a loss of good players..
