I can handle a non-asian girl but she has to have nice soft thighs. Everywhere has issues Scip which is really what I'm saying. Visiting you often don't get a deeper sense of these issues but don't worry they are still there. Where there is power and money there will always be people screwing others. All you can really do is try minimize the impact. Most people only really care about their little bubble so some of the bigger issues don't affect them as well. As for my part of the world. It's like a nice mirror to the world as a whole. There are terrible areas and then there are lovely areas. When I was studying in Cape Town I met a lot of old Germans that left Germany to retire there because they felt the quality of life was a lot nicer and their Euros go a long way. I think the nicest "meta" part of SA is how good our constitution tends to be. Perk of making it so late.

I think the only Western place I'm really not keen on going to is the US which is largely because of Work culture. I know quite a few people that moved there and almost all of them struggle really hard at first to deal with the work culture there. Working crazy long hours for no extra pay just to keep your job. My cousin is now at Tesla and while it's interesting it just doesn't seem like a way I want to live my life until I retire. I'm sure Trump will change all that though

Thailand and China have this really funny relationship right now. Since China's middle class is getting huge and starting to travel more and more, they're all visiting Thailand, its like the closest vacation destination. Plus, according to a recent Thai study, Chinese tourists on average spend more than any other kind of tourist. Americans #2 ofc. And the Chinese government is putting lots of money into the country, and doesn't have any problems with the new government which is basically a military dictatorship. So the Thai government is bending over backwards to encourage Thai tourism. At the same time, the American ambassador has been a little bit grumpy about the new government, so they're trying to discourage American tourism. Thwle thing is, if you ask the people on the street, they all hate Chinese people. I've never seen such blanket racism before. Chinese tourists usually have a pretty bad reputation, but if you ask people what they think of Chinese people, you're not gonna get a venemous response from everyone. Literally 100% of the Thai people I've asked have said they hate Chinese people. I've asked each of my students and I have like 80 and its been unanimous. They go on and on about how regularly rude, offensive and obnoxious they are, and above that how much MORE rude, offensive and obnoxious they are than the western tourists. Chiang Rai, the northmost city in Thailand (about a 2 hour drive north of me) actually recently had a public petition or something trying to pass an ordnance limiting/preventing Chinese people from going in the temples because of how many times they were offending the monks or whatever, and the government stopped them.

I'm sure I read something about Chinese government putting together programs to educate their touring base about how to behave.

What I've seen personally is that Chinese tourists basically don't give a shit about anyone if they're not Chinese. If Chinese people are taking pictures they'll wait and let them finish, but if westerners are taking pictures they'll walk right in front of you and take their own pictures, that sort of thing. Here in Thailand there's a lot of really subtle social rules of like don't walk here, don't sit here, don't stand up here, don't take pictures of this, don't raise your voice here, blah blah blah. And the Chinese people seem to just disregard all of it. The other funny thing is there's all these stories of Chinese tourists relieving themselves in public. There's a video of a Chinese person in the bangkok airport just taking a shit right in the middle of the terminal and then moving to a different chair. Here's some reading on this hilarious subject: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2958432/Don-t-defecate-public-places-don-t-touch-paintings-Thailand-releases-behaviour-guide-Chinese-tourists.html
