There are some ways to make it give the coin back if you play it T2 (like if you have backstab) or if the enemy just doesn't have early drops, but there are also quite a few scenarios when it doesn't get any value even on T2 and unlike a lot of other 2 drops that are played a lot (knife juggler, haunted creeper, mad scientist, shielded minibot) it's got virtually no value later on in the game. Overall my prediction is that the card doesn't have enough value to be played in midrange/oil rogue and it doesn't have enough tempo to be played in face rogue. Could be wrong though. This is the far more relevant drawback in my mind than "dies to removal turn 2".

Not being good in current deck archetypes is an entirely different argument. Ehh, this isn't really Renown Wave. It's really just Thieving Magpie except it only gives you Coins rather than drawing cards. The distinct part of Renown is the "only activates once" part, which lets them put different kinds of state-based effects that would be untenable or mechanically unwieldy otherwise. Sorry it's more like the 'loot" mechanic which was never given an official keyword. I just associate it more with renown because it's what I'm more exposed to. More experienced players would have compared that to loot quicker. Edit nvm I'm dumb it's not loot either. It's just an effect a few cards have had (Jhessian thief being the one in magic origins )

You use it because having a dead draw against the decks it's good against doesn't matter if you survived to turn 4+ in the first place. "Looting" is "draw X cards, then discard X cards", named after Merfolk Looter.

But part of it is that RL games are super quick and hype and I feel like I'm contributing.

In fact it seems like it would be really frustrating to get the ball to go where you want. The controls are very simple. Despite that, there's still a bit of a learning curve with the physics and self/ball control, but once you start to grasp the basics, you start being able to do some pretty cool things. The game clock is only 5 minutes, but so much happens in that time. It's very fast paced, but still great casual fun when you're playing with friends. I was laughing for 4-5 hours straight last night. You can fly with your rocket, drive on walls, crash through people and blow up their cars, bump people out of the way, make crazy saves... Its elegance is in its simplicity.

I think I'm too tired to play dota today, but so FFXIV instead, unless I feel up for it later on after I eat and relax for a few hours in my own chair, because fuck red eye flights. Granted, Las Vegas didn't disappoint, first thing I saw when I disembarked were slot machines and a gaming lounge, so yeah
