If you (or yangapalooza) want to somehow get into the modern or standard scene you'd be better off talking to someone who knows the scene better like Cixah. I don't even know what either of you wants exactly. I'll talk to yang yang later. | ||

I can only help with the stuff I know about. They play Legacy because it allows them to just use all the cards they have without explicitly worrying about formats. That's a pretty common thing in casual play groups. I picked Pauper as the starting point for deckbuilding options because 1) it keeps his card pool smaller, 2) it keeps the power level from overwhelming his friends, and 3) it's cheap. | ||

There really isn't a wrong way to do casual. If you like a card or tribe or color get the fun ones you want in your budget and play with them. I play magic 2 ways. To crush man children at children's card games. And to open a beer and grill with buds and play magic. The 2nd deck is much more about fun stuff, every card in that deck is a dragon except lands. My crush kids deck doesn't let them have a turn, takes their deck and plays it for them. Both are super fun for me. | ||

Didn't get to catch any T7 (although I'm aware that it was actually a JPN>KOR showing), nor any of my favorite side games, however these were the matches off the top of my head that I remembered very well. edit: At the very least, I highly recommend watching the Valle/Bonchan SF4 match, and Ogawa vs. Woshige Xrd match. | ||
