That being said, being in a state where I'll fall asleep if I don't splash water at my face every ~15 minutes gives me a pretty good excuse when the inevitable "but that wasn't funny" or "but we didn't even realise you were trying to be funny" comes around.
The secret to being more prepared than Batman is depriving oneself of sleep, "but I'm tired!" answer to any rebuke.
Edit: although being aware that a sentence isn't funny but posting it anyway because you're too tired to care/make the effort of deleting it has self-realisation virtues I guess. Time to get back to (tentatively) productive work.

You're can't assume that you're funny but nobody sees your sense of humour
