Yes it is. Only difference is that you replace "somehow" with spending your money poorly. As an aside, people tend to spend their money poorly "somehow".

Err, the federal deficit isn't 3 trillion? Beyond that, deficits are not necessarily a bad thing in the world of fiscal policy. It's not really relatable to personal or even business finance.
