By all accounts the rLoL mods much like nearly every reddit mod is corrupt. Quite frankly the idea of a major subreddit not under the grasp of that corruption most likely means that maybe just maybe some actual frank discussion can happen. Maybe even some sort of civil discourse where people can have differing viewpoints without upvote and downvote wars. Perhaps some articles of worthwhile note to be posted and not deleted because self promotion(unless you're cool with the mods) is bad. Of course then you realize it's reddit and that is never going to happen. I'm betting the mods will flood the board with random boosting advertisements so they can return in triumph shouting how much the board will go to shit without them.

Also, NA IHs, +1/+2. Get on now. Do I think reddit is terrible? -Yes. Yes I do. Are the mods on reddit terrible? -Well according to every leaked mod chat it's not looking good. And judging by r/lols mods willingness to ignore the whole reddit mods shouldn't be compensated by 3rd parties I'm not going to consider them top quality or honest. Do I think those mods would "abandon" the board then flood it with crap to make themselves look needed and important? -Well considering they're more then willing to remove content that speaks ill of something they like(see WTFast) it sure as hell wouldn't surprise me. You think this is something limited to just one subreddit? Go google transverse subreddit and realize the very creators of that product wanted to run the subreddit so they could deal with negative feedback. Or how the mwo subreddit split because those mods refused to remove negative threads about the game. So what happened? The dev's made another subreddit one they could make sure remained positive and upbeat about the game. Power corrupts duder.

Moderating is an inherently flawed idea that some sort elite group of people have a better understanding of what people wish to see. Removing is it will sort term reduce the quality of the sub but in the long term it would stop the miss use of power from cutting of higher quality content (or outright kill it which has happened.) There is a huge issue in the LoL community that there lacks a central hub for meta discussion and non easy digestible discussion which has considerably weakened the community. If moderation was less strict the "market" would sort its self out which has time and time again shown to build stability and all around better environment for everybody. edit: + Show Spoiler + This is sarcasm

I just don't understand why it's such a difficult concept to act like a civil human being even during an online game. Like, I try not to say things to people in a game that I wouldn't say to someone on the street. Everyone just wants carte blanche to say whatever they want because it's the internet and I think that's horseshit. pretty much everyone agrees there should be a line somewhere they just can't handle the idea that other people have a different line about what's acceptable. or something like that. I always think people get way to emotionally tied to this stuff. It's riot's game they can do whatever they want and you can choose to play or not play. I don't mind discussions about what should be acceptable just what it usually turns into.

Pretty much, do your parents fight with Chinese guests over who pays for the restaurant check when taking other Chinese guests out?
