Also, I got my first SAT scores back. I didn't expect to do too well, since I had literally no preparation or studying, but I got a 2020. Idk if that's good or not, since nobody else I know got their scores yet. 99th percentile in reading, but 79th in math; go figure.
2020 should be good enough to get into quite a few mid-tier colleges and uni's, probably impossible without a ton of extracurricular to get into ivy league schools (obviously depending on major), (unless you're black/mexican/native american)

Yeah but I talked earlier about how I'm not reaching very high (although my extracurriculars are pretty nice, I gotta say). That's good news, I landed right where I needed to without having to do much.

It really depends what kind of schools he's applying to because his scores are relatively lopsided. Based on the percentiles that sounds something like 750-ish Reading, 600-ish Math, 680-700-ish Writing? The reading/writing scores are quite decent (especially given how SAT Writing is like the biggest fucking crapshoot), but how much the comparatively low Math score hurts you you will vary a lot depending on the school's own preference for applicants.

I wrote a great essay. The issue was, I wrote the essay on why the essay question was retarded.
How well you write has very little correlation to how well you actually do on the Writing section. Graders are super inconsistent, and what they're looking for is incredibly formulaic, as opposed to any reasonably good writing.

Yeah, I knew that going in. I'd do it again though.

Are you trying to prove something to someone by writing an essay like that...? Seems like something that's pretty high on the "rebel without a cause" scale lol.

it's dependent on major/department per college. Obviously it'll hurt him in the engineering departments, but as an overall congregate assuming his GPA is decent it should be fine.
I don't see Ghandi as an engineering type because most people who are really gunning for engineering or hard science are unlikely to have the "should I go to college" crisis that he had yesterday, lol.
Not only is are engineering fields those where you really need a college degree, but the engineering student is also the most likely to just suck it up and do something he doesn't feel sure/happy about if its ostensibly going to help his career, lol.

I'd bet money he's lying but there's no way to actually settle the bet and I am most certainly not just going to accept his word on it.
Edit: You could call it joking if you want to make it sound less serious, either way I'm confident he didn't actually write his essay on how bad the essay question was.

Why would I lie about that :|
"Wow I gotta make sure TL knows I'm cool, better make up a story about... essay writing?"

yeah, that's why I said his congregate score was just fine since i didn't expect him to be a STEM major. lol.

Ghandi knows you'd get more TL street cred by dodging a song bet than by lying about your SAT.

Oddly enough, UW has a much-improved in-state acceptance rate. So maybe being white upper class in-state male liberal arts major won't bring me down after all!

Because you're 17 and it makes for a decent 'lol I'm such a rebel' joke?
Edit: I'm trying to actually give you some credit here. I find the idea of writing a joke essay on your SAT's flat out retarded even for an immature 17 year old tossing around the idea of not going to school(which, thinking on posts prior to yesterday, didn't really seem like you, since you had brought up college prospects many times), but coming up with a funky story about doing it seems pretty normal

I'm not sure if you're just messing with him or genuinely believe this.
