Weed is most certainly not for everyone just like alcohol, caffeine, anime, reality tv, and virtually everything else is not for everyone. I find people who enjoy marijuana are in general individuals who are less stressed, very open minded, and excited at the prospect of thinking about things in the most absurd of ways. Obviously this is a huge generalization, but just my personal observations.
But just like many things on this planet I would certainly suggest everyone try it once, although with smoking the first time can not be enjoyable because 1) You didn't actually inhale enough. 2) You were so focused on trying to figure out if you were high you don't realize that you're high. 3) You were already inebriated in some other way and therefore it compounded and confused the effects of your previous substance. 4) You were not in the right setting or mood. The first couple times you really should be totally relaxed (not stressed about life things), with people you are SUPER comfortable with, AND in a place that is familiar and feels safe. Too many times I see newbies with a friend and his/her random smoking buddies in the attic/garage/water tower given a hit that's way too big and I just know it's ruined for that person.

A big part of the popularity around the issue in America is the absurd prohibition and "War on Drugs" in general. In the face of scientific and medical evidence suggesting its benefits and limited downsides (there are downsides and some negative side effects, of course), it is classified as a Schedule 1 drug - which means it is considered to have no medical use at all, and is regarded as "more dangerous" than the many prescription drugs that are frequently handed out very liberally.
It is also one of the most heavily used reasons to incarcerate people, resulting in the highest prison population in the world by far. As more information has come available over the last several years, the absurdity of it just becomes more apparent. And the amount of uproar around it has certainly caused progress as evident from Colorado, Washington, and DC (along with a couple others). I don't really care if people care for it or not, but keeping it illegal is incredibly ridiculous, and I don't anticipate it being so for that much longer.
War on Drugs might as well be rebranded as War on Poor as far as I'm concerned. I don't understand why the federal government has just legalized it, created standards to get all the bad weed off the streets, and cash in on taxing it like they do with cigarettes.
I mean, yes, that's what it's basically boiled down to. Why haven't they yet? Because the private prison industry loves having all these inmates! Money speaks louder than logic or evidence.
Significant progress has been made in recent years. Colorado in particular has proven how effective the taxing/regulation can be. I expect several more states to legalize in the next couple years (northeast and west coast especially).
You know your country is fucked when you have a private prison industry

Other good shounens are Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer, Seven Deadly Sins/Nanatsu no Taizai, Saki is a pretty cute manga about a mahjong club, kinda similar to Hikaro no Go, but not professional-level.
Also, I wouldn't call Psyren shounen, that's more seinen, bit more mature, I'd call it closer to Darker than Black. Oh, and Ghost in the Shell Arise is actually pretty good as well.
Bleach needs to end, it's ass now, especially in what should, hopefully, be the last arc. Naruto's only redeeming feature was that it ended with him getting with the best girl, nothing else. One Piece is the only one of the Former Big Three that isn't complete ass, but the current arc is blehhhhhhhh, taking way too long to end.
Ewww.. Arise is the worst GitS
I never said it was the best, just that it was good. Nothing stands up to SAC, so we can't really hold it to too high a standard lol.
Ye I know but it makes me a little sad. Really want more GitS but I don't know if I want more Arise.
I liked Arise.
It's difficult to compare GitS stuff with itself because the first season of SAC is just much much better than everything else they've done, and it skews comparisons.

I heard on the radio this morning (LOVE NPR) that two companies control 3/4 of the prisons in the USA.
Yeah I watched a documentary a while back (forgot the name) that basically said that the private prison industry treated inmates like shit compared to state prisons and reap huge profits.

Ye like his blend of comedy. Latest one is also pretty funny for me. Americans seem to think anything involving Tax is the spawn of Satan regardless of if it would help them or not.
