Or the writer just feels like describing it this way for a few reasons. 1) Alcohol is hip to sing about. 2) It's flammable (see next). Now the flammability of alcohol is used to convey the ability of her eyes for "fanning the flames". Since forever ago desire, lust and in some ways temptation have all been likened to fire. Phrases such as "old flame" "burning with passion" and "kindled spirits" (jk). This women's appearance has sparked a desire in the singer much like a molotov cocktail would. Also alcohol makes people more inclined to lose inhibition and give into lustful desires of the heart. This line is a mix of interwoven ideas to communicate an emotion in just a short line. | ||

Ah well. I'd rather not leave a company in a bad spot by quitting, but I'd rather not struggle with this place anymore. And a ~28% jump in pay isn't bad at all, especially with the whole wedding thing. | ||

Let me complain about Bleach a little bit SPOILER ALERT I've watched it up until the defeat of Aizen, because it felt like the natural conclusion to the story, and I really wasn't interested in what was going to happen afterwards. And it felt like the entire premise of the thing got changed several times and it was just not credible after a while. So at first the Soul Society's main job is hunting down Hollows who feed on human souls and sending humans too tied to the earth to afterlife. Alright, cool. Then we get to see that Soul Society is a lot larger than that, and they are pretty much a world of their own, that just sends some expedition parties here to earth and also to other territories to hunt Hollows. OK, I can see that. The problem is that at first Soul Society is this really autocratic, unjust and somewhat evil massive entity that Ichigo has to beat in order to save (somewhat falsely) convicted Rukia. So we get to see all the stereotypical things evil guys do: they fight against each other (Kenpachi hates everyone else, Byakuya thinks everyone else is trash, etc.), there are the good guys who were formerly with Soul Society but decided against it (Urahara Kisuke, Shihouin Yoruichi), they treat their underlings poorly (living bombs by Mayuri Kurotsuchi), they've got all the evil guys tropes and I'm fine with that. Ichigo does the thing where he becomes super motivated and powerful and basically reks everyone's anus saving Rukia, proving his right by might and with unexpected help of captains who also believed the trial to be unjust saves the day. COOL. I liked it up until now, even though I had hoped the side characters had a bit more importance than just contrasting with Ichigo. The problem is, we get to see that it was all Aizen's fault, because he wanted the Hougyoku inside Rukia (HEH), so he killed the government and pretended to be 44 chancellors and ordered the execution of Rukia. So now Yamamoto Genryusai looks MIGHTY fool and all the other captains who didn't rebel show their utter lack of moral compass, because they relied on authority to make their moral decisions, instead of their own beliefs of justice. Alright, I can kinda get behind that, but there should be a payoff for this. This thing where basically nobody in the Soul Society has any idea of what civilized society is supposed to be like is never explored. Instead, Ichigo joins Soul Society in their fight against Aizen (and hollows) and suddenly ALL these extremely evil things get totally swept under the rug, ignored, or whatever. Zaraki Kenpachi is REALLY a friend with everyone, but he really likes fighting. Nevermind that attempted murder (or execution?) of him by Komamura. Byakuya is just REALLY protective of Rukia, but he wanted to protect her honor more than her life. And it's funny how he feels superior to everyone else, haha, jokes. Yamamoto is ACTUALLY a kinda good guy, he's just a bit too strict. Kurotsuchi is just a mad scientist kinda guy, he's really weird and maybe a bit sociopathic, but when the going gets tough he gets together with everyone else. NO THESE PEOPLE ARE INCREDIBLY FUCKING EVIL AND EMOTIONAL RETARDS YOU CAN'T JUST TURN THEM FROM BAD GUYS TO GOOD GUYS IN 1 FUCKING ANIME EPISODE HOLY SHIT | ||
