I've played a good deal of Guild Wars 2. I never got all the way to the end game myself, alt-itis and all that, and I'm mostly a solo player, but here are my impressions from playing and reading the community forums occasionally:
Guild Wars 2 was actually a really fun game. The best part, by far, was leveling, although people did stick around for the end game when they got there. The best part of the "personal story" was the early part that was mostly about you. Dynamic level adjustment is really nice in that you don't have to create characters specifically for playing with low-level friends. Combat is nice and depending on your class/spec, challenging. Hidden jumping puzzles can be found that are often really fun, though sometimes VERY NOT FUN, luckily they're there for kicks. From 1-79 GW2 just had all sorts of nice things going for it... its level 80, the endgame, is kinda there, but the most interesting parts are tied to whatever "living story" is going on at the moment, and aside from that it's not very strong.
Again though, the best part WAS leveling. Unfortunately, this past fall they completely revamped traits and trait points in a way that's really annoying. For instance, when you reached the proper level and invested enough in a trait you used to just get a set of cool traits that enhanced your weapon or slot skills in one way or another and could really define how you spec your class. Now though you have to unlock traits individually by either doing extra skill challenges (which are already used for your slot skills) AND spending coin or by completing some random objective somewhere. Moreover, instead of getting a steady trickle of trait points from level 20 onward that allowed you to access cool stuff fairly early, now you basically get a big trait point or two every so often from level 30 onward, heavily weighted towards level 80, so your character feels incomplete for 90% of the game. The only good thing to come out of the entire change is that trait respecs are free-free instead of half-free.
Now, honestly, I was an old player and so I probably feel the pinch of the change a lot more than someone would if they started new. But the change pissed off a lot of us older players in general. Traits weren't the only thing they revamped, they did a lot of stuff to actually try to improve the experience for newer players, but from my perspective the trait changes in particular babied new players so much that they just ended up hurting the fun of leveling.
I've played a bit of GW2 since then but I ended up stopping in the hopes they would revert the changes. From reading the patch notes I don't see the slightest inkling that they actually addressed the concerns of the community. GW2 can be very fun, if they just hadn't done that revamp I would recommend it without the slightest hesitation.
My two cents.

They also allude that it's happened like, five times. Huh, I guess that's kinda interesting. I should watch the movies at some point.

Pax night 0
Status: to drive to drink
I made It in town and met up with friends downtown. A few drink later we stumble into what we think is a western bar, turned out to be a gay bar. I ended up getting free drinks with no obligation of anything other than to accept all the complements these Mexicans were trying to give me. My alarm is set and I'm heading to bed so that I can be at the convention hall at 6am to get in line for swag bags.
I also have an interviewish thing at the twitch booth on Saturday. Wish me luck

I genuinely enjoyed the fights and animation on EVA, though. Throw out as many shit-tier shounens (you can love Bleach/Naruto/DBZ as much as you want, when it comes to exchanging blows, or the way they manage spacing and stuff, even passing up the whole "people can walk on her and swinging a weapon in a direction breaks the momentum of your fall" they're pretty trash) as you want, but for its time EVA was very smooth, and the ay they handled the whole "evacuating the people and sending the town underneath the ground" and stuff like deployment and the EVAs' actual operating range because of the cables stood out for me. I was watching fights, not just vaguely humanoid shapes waving their arms.
It wasn't just that, but since Wave wanted giant robots fighting monsters...

Like, if you put real 13 year olds in that situation, that is how they would actually behave.
I originally saw Eva when I was 14 and in and out of psychiatrists offices all the time, and I remember even then thinking that Shinji was just about the best cartoon representation of a depressed person I'd ever seen.
And I think that's also the exact reason why lots of people don't like the show. They want idealistic heroes for characters in a robot show, not realistic people with realistic problems.
If I rewatch it now I don't like it as much anymore, and I'm pretty sure it's probably because I'm not depressed anymore and can no longer relate as well to the characters. Actually I never really minded Shinji.. I didn't care for all the bullshit plot lines, the terrible ending(yeah great shinji you conquered your depression or maybe? We don't really know) and everyone in that show was an asshole. Literally no one in that show is likable except for Shinji's pals. Then the end of eva happened and it's essentially a poster child of "Art for art's sake isn't always a good thing" Fucking Orange juice.. Then again, almost universally everyone is an asshole. It just takes more or less digging to find these parts.

So... + Show Spoiler +Everyone is a-goo-goo, 'cept Shinji, who more or less overcomes his depression and goes "nope" and resets the world (not timeline, just the world, so everyone remembers what happened previously) to some time before the events of the series. Meaning everyone still remembers the stuff that happened/what they did/that they died/their past issues/etc. and it's happening over and over. Isn't that a lot worse and more depressing (as a setting and for the characters themselves) than the original series behind the varnish then?

I just see these tweets and im now certain that he got banned on TL in the past. I can't wait for him casting TL games, the hate will flow through his veins.

While is tone is rather angry I think the content is pretty legit. TL did rather mess up not getting into LoL quicker but I don't know if they worse off now with having LiQuiD as co-owner. He seems like a smart guy that gets things done.

Eh i mean he's presenting an incredibly one sided view of the deal. TL didn't surrender 50% of the company to enter lol. it surrendered 50% of the company to acquire curse. which is significantly different. unless monte is suggesting curse was worthless. but yeah monte is a douche we all know this.
