I've seen the draft mode in MtG where you pick out your deck from like 24 booster? pack with 8 different people or something and that seemed really cool but that stuff where you buy card for 30$ each (and that's really cheap from what I've got?) just seems incredibly silly. | ||

Most cards in MtG are very cheap. The cost is all dependent on supply and demand in the secondary market. A card is very useful in more than one format and is rarer? It will cost more. The standard deck I have been running is probably worth ~$200 (likely a bit less than that), and that's with 2 copies of a $35 card, 4 copies of a $10 dual land, 3 copies of another ~$8 dual land. Other than that, most of the cards would be very cheap. Fortunately, the group of friends I play with let me borrow most of those expensive cards, so my deck was at very little cost to me. People pay for enjoyment. Magic happens to be on the expensive side of things, but there are definitely more expensive/less healthy habits to have. | ||
