I've read all the translated LN. It's still trashy tbh. Neo just tells me I must stop thinking about it so much and just let it flow instead. There's a lot of things about the story I'd consider just not well written. It suffers from the same sort of thing SAO suffers from where the MC is the least interesting character but is the one you spend the most time with. It's still fun and way better than SAO though. Just one of the worse things I've read last few years. Even Sanderson's first novel is better written and that's kind of trashy imo. | ||

The most promising part of Mahouka is it's technobabble approach to magic, which actually could make it a decent setting for roleplay. But the characters suck (particularly the primary characters--some of the secondary characters are potentially interesting but not well developed). | ||
