I still think the reason is the lack of creativity from TL's part. Yes Riot does outsource themselves to write articles, but beyond the Powerranking they don't actually gain much traction either.
At the end TL is too stubborn to abandon the article formats, which are too rigid and outdated. No one wants to read a wall of texts. There are better business opportunities elsewhere.
For example, onGamers essentially appeared out of nowhere and gained a market on esports interviews. That's actually a field TL has strength historically. But nah, we are all allergic to video interviews and it's better off funding a shit tier sc2 team.

Honestly I'd just like coverage/summary of non NA/EU happenings. I'd love to learn more about the LPL and get some OGN reports because I can't generally stay up at night and then finding vods are just a pain half the time. I mean when you do articles about the LCS you can only do so much to make it exciting. I read them all but half the time I just ignored the clips because well I'd already seen it.

I agree with point one.
As for part two, Asmo and I covered NA/EU because it was the scene we were most familiar with. And despite what a lot of people have said, most of our articles had more in-depth analysis than other websites' LCS recaps that were being produced at the time. But if TL had said "hey we're gonna officially support Chexx and his coverage of OGN"I would have jumped over in a heart beat. But even that wasn't something that was even close to happening. I'm not even that upset anymore that we didn't get officially covered, but how about you don't shit on the content we did produce when we actually had passion for this website before it burned out over the course of two years of political bullshit.

I liked the content when I was really into LoL it sort of sucks that the LoL community congregates around reddit which is a retarded system for a community to have.
Somewhere here there was a big discussion of why TL really fucked over TLLoLs writing staff.
I got twelve with an absolutely terrible hunter deck. 1 Highmane, no animal companions, 1 KC, 1 houndmaster, 1 yeti. It had very little removal for an aggro deck and and very little value for a value deck it was basically yolo and hope they don't have burn or aoe and at a lot of turns. I think I got 4 top deck lethals too.

Tbh though LPL wouldn't get much attention either, China Talk especially Karon Moser and Froskurin (Thanks in part to thorin and ongamers) has LPL coverage in the west on lockdown. The only way to possibly draw attention to LPL coverage here away from them would be through translations

It was probably during the Nazgual AMA in this thread. Also probably something ketchup wrote because he's always had really good posts in our defense. It's always been a complicated issue since a large portion of the subforum didn't actually want official coverage (big names like Roffles, CSheep and Yango). But the Heroes team doesn't really bother me. TL never had a passion for League outside of this subforumn but if they have it for Heroes more power to them I guess.

I agree that our content in of itself taken out of isolation was great. But you're talking about your personal experience as opposed to the grand scheme NA coverage. No matter how good the content was, what is its ability to compete when people had a number of other sources to choose from, including the official riot coverage of the scene plastered onto the front of the game client?
For an individual writer, the best case scenario while covering NA/EU was to write until you get noticed, then get picked up by Riot. Where does that leave TL coverage of those scenes in the long run, in a treadmill of inputting in insane amount of effort for something that has no logical avenue of success. It quickly became thankless and I'm amazed by the hard work and dedication that you guys put into it.

When I was doing steam community market stuff I don't think that strategy would work. There the house takes a huge cut so if someone undercuts your (theoretical) $10 item by a dollar or two and you try to resell it all for $10 you just end up losing a bunch of money because you're only making $7 on each sale... there's plenty of room to undercut people meaningfully. I remember the WoW AH being a lot more lenient in that regard.
The other thing that you forget to mention about this is that you need enough gold to ensure you can buy everything. You can't starve the market if you don't have the gold in the first place. You say to get the cheap crap but if there's a high volume of cheap crap you can still get stuck.
It's not as big of a deal in game, but I'm pretty glad that IRL it's a crapton harder to create a monopoly like that out of nothing.
