This was still the time when blizzards idea of release ready was make half the encounters bug out and the other demand resist sets for 2 fights that where trivial without them. Considering release C'thun and Ouru were literally impossible, and Viscidus's first two iterations both required the absolute most ridiculous setups, I'd say release Naxx was tuned fine in comparison. Naxx's biggest problem was just the way vanilla WoW progression worked, because not many people were ready for it when it launched in the first place(there were like 100 C'thun kills total or something small like that), so a bunch of people rushed into it, killed the easy bosses, and then got stuck. The not top tier raiders didn't get multiple years to swing at it with their shorter raid schedules or less optimized setups, but it wasn't anymore overtuned, and definitely not more buggy, than the other instances on release. Also, I didn't say Naxx was the pinnacle of raid development or anything. I just said, Vanilla Naxx is best Naxx, which is true because WotLK Naxx was fucking garbage, and Hearthstone Naxx is by definition of being Hearthstone Naxx, also garbage.

But as I stood there in his office I began to have my doubts. Paper was strewn across the floor, and I would have believed the stories of his dedication and skill were it not for the the accumulation of grimy layer of sawdust and dirt. As the wind blew through the cracks in the wall the papers would stir to life, drifting and carving swirling patterns in as feckless and lazy a manner as they had been abandoned. I would have sat down but the only available chair in the room was already occupied by stack of books. I couldn't make out any titles as they were all in foreign languages but they looked well worn and thumbed through many a long night. I would have been begrudgingly impressed were it not my irritation at the state the rest of the room was in. I decided to sit on the corner of the large mahogany desk instead, pushing aside a collection of empty bottles and flasks of various assortments to make enough space for myself. Many of the labels were still new, and I could make out the names of whiskeys and what I swear must have been moonshine. They no longer reeked the pungent scent of raw alcohol, but still retained a light cloying smell that lingered in the air. Any normal man might have begun to feel nauseous but my misspent youth had lead me consider trivial what should otherwise have been sensibilities most would uphold. The blinds were drawn and blocked out most of the setting sun but the light still crept through the thatches, casting rays of warmth through an otherwise grey room. You could make out the motes of dust dancing as they passed through the beams, floating and drifting with a drunken gait as though they too had found solace at the bottom of a bottle. He finally turned his chair around to face me. It was hard to believe this was the man who had achieved such acclaim, such praise and even been called a prodigy. He was hunched in his chair, bloodshot eyes staring through unkempt hair that drooped over his face that carried a beard as ragged as his breath. His suit had clearly seen better days and I had no doubt that the dried streaks down his shirt had come from the near-empty bottle of Jack he cradled in his arms. But he was alive and that's all that mattered to me. I pulled a polaroid photo out of my coat pocket and slide it across the desk towards him, careful to avoid puddles of what I did not know and was not too eager to figure out either. He eyes twitches as he tried to focus on what was before him, and I could see the gears in his mind slowly whirr as it tried to process what was in front of him. It reminded me of the shabby car some families keep because they can afford no other, struggling as it tries to push itself for one last go despite being well past its use-by date. Eventually the car splutters to live, heaving itself into relevance, trying to convince you that matybe, just maybe, you can go one more week before taking it to the junk yard. I raised a finger before the engine putted into being and spoke. "I want something you have. You have something I want. So let's make a deal, shall we?"

I think one of the biggest raiding achievements I can think of was killing um.....blue dragon guy . First boss of sunwell. Can't remember. The day before they nerfed sunwell. I mean, I raided vanilla too but we were finishing molten core when guilds were in AQ and stuff.

I agree with the rest of your points but that mind control fight always bugged out for us as I recall and I recall issues with a few other fights I can't really remember. To Wave: kalecgos was a pain good on you. And moonbear suddenly makes me consider finding my old max payne cd

We did the lower level raids pretty well and had some success branching into the harder ones. But I'll never have as much fun as I did in Karazhan. The atmosphere was just great and so fun.
