To be honest it is. Getting tied by a Portugal with 50% Ronaldo, no Almeida, Pepe, Coentrao and Postiga is not good news. US will have to play the game of their lives to win vs Germany. Germany will be very hungry after the tie vs Ghana. And the kind of oppurtunities that Nani and Veloso miss are easy picking for the likes of Klose and Müller.
I'm content with our 9 points now, LvG has a good strategic mind. Wasn't very pretty play but it was very effective.

I tried some portions of Red Hand of Doom, it's actually pretty good. I think it's also pretty easy to borrow some sections from it without running the whole thing a campaign (or portion of one).

I thought MB was Yango for a second and his tonal shift was just so jarring

The US team made two massive mistakes that they deserved to be punished for and did.
Portugal is pretty screwed. They have to beat Ghana by a decent margin and need the US to lose by a decent margin to get in.
The US can lose while Portugal wins and STILL make it through.

Yeah but Ghana is more dangerous than Portugal. Gyan, Ayew, Atsu, all incredibly dangerous and they'll be playing against the same crippled Portugal as you.
Would be extremely sour for the US to get taken out by Ghana again though

Just got to believe we can tie or win vs Germany

Will be very difficult. I really like the US team spirit though, and maybe Klinsmann has some strats in the pocket vs his old team

Aphromoo's stream has such good music for lifting spirits. I'm almost happy right now.
Edit: of course as I post that he switches to some kind of shitty R'n'B. ._.

I concur. Combat is a necessary evil in my games. It is relevant, but i prefer if a roleplaying session is at most roughly 20-30% combat. An hour a round Shadowrun style combat is just boring in my opinion. I usually see combat time as wasted time. No story developement, no new realisations, no new ideas, nothing interesting happening at all. Usually it is "Hm, those guys want our shit, we don't want to give them our shit, we are stronger, but now this combat is still gonna take two hours." That is especially true for crunchy systems like DnD or Shadowrun. Combat is also an incredibly lazy way of dming. Don't have anything prepared? Don't have any idea where your story is going? Here are some wolves and a giant bugthing for good measure, why not. That oughta keep them busy for an hour or two. This leads to a spiral where combat is the first and only solution the players have to any problem, and thus the dm only presents balanced fights which are solvable through combat. I do not enjoy that type of game very much.
I have a pretty simple rule: If a combat takes more then ~30 minutes of nothing but initiative based fighting, it is probably boring. If that is every single fight due to the system, i probably don't like the system.

US gets through if ghana wins by 1 and us loses by 1, as long as ghana scores no more than 1 more goal than the US.as we get the third tiebreaker and the second is total goals scored, in which the US is ahead by 1.
so if ghana wins 2-1 and US loses 2-1, then US gets through as well on the third tiebreaker. if ghana wins 3-2 and us loses 2-1 then Ghana gets through on the 2nd tiebreaker.

From the beginning, I heard that US was in the group of death, but since I don't really follow professional sports much, I didn't quite realize how bad it was. But the more I've watched, the more I understand just how screwed the US got with their seeding lol
Although, Portugal and Ghana also got the shorter end of the stick. Compared to the other groups I've watched, group G has been pretty insane.

B/D/G were touted as groups of death beforehand. Belgium, Argentina and Colombia/Ivory Coast all have incredibly easy groups, and group D was a blowout with England failing in every regard and Suarez not playing the first game.
G is probably the strongest group (all teams in your group made it to ro16 last time) but our group isn't that much worse imo (Aussies always dangerous with Cahill, Chile pretty strong and Spain former WC/EC winners). 2 finalists in the same group too.

From what I heard, only the top 8? seeds mattered, and then everyone else was randomized? So the fact that US was ranked #13 meant absolutely nothing lol

Conspiracy theory: USA and Germany intentionally draw so they both make it through. FIFA swims in money.

A draw is actually probably my biggest fear lol. So much cynicism about "filthy Americans" will certainly be abound. Especially if there are some of the terrible reffing calls we've seen this tournament (although, if I remember correctly, it's been better than the last World Cup?)
