I do however very much dislike it because I can no longer just jump onto TL, hit subscribed threads, and see anything I want to instantly within reason. Doing that before a few hours ago, I would see any new posts in threads I care about, be able to scroll through one single sidebar to see if an active topic looks interesting, see a one stop shop calendar, and have all the streams I want in one place. I do find it kind of hilarious though that LoL and 'other games' are still on the 'generic'/Starcraft TL site, even though it's apparently the least supported amongst the truly high up staffers. Who knew that would end up being a good thing? I am a little surprised by the hesitancy of the general users about this change. Personally I wouldn't have minded a separate TL site for League. But then again, I only follow League. I never really followed Dota2 and I stopped caring about SC2 probably 4-5 years ago.

Ultimately it's more ad traffic for TL and Cleaner layouts for specialized content. Which is cool, it just means I'm less likely to visit this specilized content due to the fact that it can't all be found in one location even though they share a name. TLDR: TL felt like the Reddit of Esports, now it feels like things have been ripped apart and put in different holes.

Why does it have to be seperated? I basically never visit Liquidhearth because it's more links to click to get there for no reason.

The biggest inconvenience is still the decision to break off the non-primary game sections (General, Other Games, etc.). A lot of people who are even only attached to one game generally have some participation in one or more of those. The argument is that these sites should grow their own internal communities, but as far as I'm concerned, LiquidHearth is an example of how that belief has failed. The blogs section is exclusively Hearthstone brag/balance whine blogs, with no real non-HS content. The general forum is even more tragic--it's basically cluttered with advertisements for Gatherings that all have <10 posts and most have 0. When I raised these issues before, I was told that these would fix themselves with time, but they've only gotten worse. There are definitely veteran users who've been impacted negatively by the split. The example I used previously was kierpanda's food blogs, which was basically killed by the LiquidHearth migration. I'm not at all surprised at the backlash, and having discussed this with some TL DotA users after the split, quite a few of them of them have the same complaints that I expressed concerns about internally before the split.

Regardless, TL LoL will stay on TL main. We no longer have the staff to support a spinoff even if some of us wanted to, etc. Edit: also, because of the kind of game HearthStone is, there is simply a limitation of what can be discussed about a card game with such a shallow pool of cards. I think a lot of things Yango brought up won't affect Liquid`Dota2 to the degree it has done to Liquid`Hearth.

The issues I brought up have to do with the integration of non-gaming content/discussion into the community. I don't believe the nature of the game itself has any impact on this, and as I said, LiquidHearth has totally failed to foster any sort of non-gaming community interaction. It's literally all HS on that site, and most attempts to build non-HS content/discussion have died. With regards to League, our subcommunity is interesting in that we have an internal self-contained hub for off-topic discussion. Truth be told, I'd be much more confident in LiquidDota and LiquidHearth's ability to grow their non-DotA/HS community if such a thing existed for those subforums before the split. I'd actually argue that LiquidLoL would be more successful as its own site than LiquidDota or LiquidHearth because of this.

We gotta do this and then "accidentally" make posts in dota threads where we talk about what they're talking about, but call heroes champions and creeps minions or whatever. Then we just add in "Edit: Wrong thread" at the end.

It really depends on the "familial" aspect of a community, something that TL LoL is actually very strong on, like you said. But I'm sure the admins care more about the competitive aspect for the community than off-topic content.

But it was taken down in the end because how butthurt some general users would've taken it.
