I don't even know if I'm doing it right, I generally only attempt to DI left and right because all anyone ever talks about is DI in and out. I must not be doing it well though because I got comboed REALLY hard on several occasions off stream.
I'm surprised that I started forgetting how to l-cancel but I guess I shouldn't be. I know how to aura sphere cancel and I never did it all night even on grounded smashes. I could have gotten to ledges a lot faster if I cancelled stuff with down-b.
It's really frustrating. Someone can be standing next to me giving me good advice but when I get to the point where I'm supposed to use it I do my noob thing 9 times out of 10. Honestly now I feel really bad, and it's only worse because that's my last chance to play people for the next 4 months. Should have just gone to bed. See y'all in the mornin' -_- D: I was just trying to help! DI on Reaction is hard, but once you learn matchups and can tell how they are attacking it's not too bad. You did fine for the most part, but those were the mistake you made in those games. It's like trying to watch your replays by yourself and having someone watch them with you. Come back in 4 months and we do this again. Did Soniv get any streamed matches? Or did he puss out and not play?
Sorry, it's not your fault. I really just shouldn't post things late at night. It was 3 AM, I was super tired, and that increases my depression factor by a billion and I kinda let it all out. I'm not sure if I'll have the motivation to train at this point but I'm not so down about it anymore.
Except now I feel bad for making you feed bad, you should feel bad for that! XD

Reactive DI comes from just knowing the matchups, what attack is coming, if it will hit you, and how they can follow up...and you need to process all that in about 4 frames.
No substitute for game after game after game.

I did alright. Idk what place I ended up coming in, but I got knocked out in like 4th or 5th round. I choked against the big fatties that I've never really played against (DK/Bowser). I wasn't playing nearly defensive enough (especially as Olimar), and I started to figure it out towards the end, but too late.

Jeff why are you up so early

Don't judge my journey Shelke

Yeah, DI is pretty intimidating that way, I suppose practicing it against bots would be a step tho. I think if I'm going to train more I'll actually have to play the bots at some point, practicing techs feels pointless if I have no prospects of applying them. I know smashboards says they're unhealthy for training but what else am I gonna do? Just have to try my best to not exploit them and not play lazy.

Haha I would never judge!

Yeah, fortunately I was able to learn most of my basic tech in high school when I could play with my friend all the time.
But I feel the same way, I always feel like I'm not getting much out of playing against bots. That's why I opted to play online to learn Olimar's kit, despite the lag.

Somebody in class sitting next to me playing LoL. So much clicking.
Now I'm actually kinda tempted to play a little tonight for the first time in ages, but then again, D3.
Also good morning ladies and gentlemen.

Ik how you feel Wave Friend played LoL next to me in class, I almost picked it up again

I made a $50 bet that I'd win if I just bootcamped Melee for three weeks, conditions are that he has to play Kirby. I've been going into the hyperbolic time chamber baby.
I'd also never played melee before this point. Played Brawl a little and Smash64 very briefly.

I meant what character are you playing.

Jeff let's do some rank! I think I've been demoted down to silver 4 or 5 for not playing.
Wave start a hardcore character with me or I can just play my 60 barb
