Depends on the difficulty you want. XY were the easiest gen in a long time (thanks to all the free shit you get and the EXP Share being broken as fugg), while I found BW and BW2 to be actually relatively difficult compared to previous gens. I think it was the way the routes and gyms were laid out, giving it a different curve. Ruby is the setting of the original Nuzlocke, though Hoenn is pretty hit or miss for some people.

only about 5 when all was said and done - I could function on 6 hrs for school and stuff, but when I'm working my brain as hard as I am at work, it gets pretty draining

I've been pretty good about going to bed at a good time (~midnight) most week nights, so on the occasional days when I don't get enough sleep, it catches up with me. My body is jittery right now, but my brain is getting sleepy.
