The competition is scheduled to take place from June 25th to June 28th. Due to a scheduling conflict with a tournament in France, SCBOY has decided to host an offline event inviting retired legendary players. The player roster consists of 6 Chinese players and 10 legendary players.

Chinese players: Oliveira, XY, Cyan, Jieshi, Macsed, CoffeeMs
Legendary players: InoVation, Dear, Impact, soO, Trap, TY, Kelazhur, Neeb, Scarlett, FanTaSy

No. They tried to contact players such as Zest and Stats, but those players declined due to reasons like injuries or work commitments. As for some other players, it seems they have left the scene, and there was no easy way to get in touch with them, so they had to give up on inviting them.

Damn this is sick. All my favorite players Neeb, Scarlett, Oliveira, Inno (who are all retired) are playing!

Btw title's date is off by a day and should be changed to June 25-28.

Might as well invite some guys from other RTS and do an streamer event like that WC3 thing that Grubby does

The connection to the PTR server in China is laggy(need a network accelerator to connect to any of the global servers, often the nearest KR server. This also means players are interconnected through proxies, lag > 100ms).

Besides, the current PTR patch (5.0.16 PTR) is extremely imbalanced. The organizers, SCBoy said that the current 5.0.16 PTR patch is a mess and players will play the game with the current regular patch.

Wow that’s perfect if it’s on current patch instead of PTR, it’s not a great patch but far better than the horrendous PTR one.

Looks like they're on the current patch. Watching Wardi's VOD on YouTube and the game started with 8 workers. It's also more efficient to not use Warp Gate.

The new patch kind of minimises the difference of practice and knowledge between the active players and the inactive ones, doesn't it?

Neeb looks so good. Almost like he never left. Impressive decision making, multi-tasking, micro and macro. It's like he never left. Only thing I'd critique is he doesn't micro his run-by's long enough like MaxPax does and misses out on maximum value. However on Day 2 he looks like he is so that's really cool.

Innovation was really impressive too. Kinda to be expected from his style but still, scary scary Terran when he's left to do his thing.

Also, this has been such a fun idea. It's cool seeing these old legends again and it's real interesting how they match up with each other now with different levels of rust.

Congrats Scarlett!! Nice to see Scarlett win a major tournament for the first time since the Olympics (the first and to my knowledge the only Olympics-related StarCraft medal).

Come to think of it, that one was also on a particular patch too.

So Scboy shared some behind-the-scenes news after the event: the StarCraft II Legend Invitational was just a small part of the whole carnival, and honestly, the budget for it wasn’t that big. But the organizers were really happy with how it turned out—the crowd was super into it, the merch booths were busy the whole time, and there was a constant stream of people at the player meet-and-greets and signings. They’re already saying they want to bring SC2 back to the carnival next year, and this time they’re planning to put more money into it and invite even more players.

Congratulations to Scarlett! But I can't help but wonder how much this patch was responsible for crowning another Zerg besides Serral as winner in a relevant tournament since over 2 years.
Hopefully, HSC29 will be played on the old patch... I can't even begin to imagine what Serral is capable of doing on the new one.

HSC Will be played on the new patch because players preferred it, for useful data collection and probably because it’s easier to practice on live patch rather than on a mod

It is nice, but I need to be honest. I thought this tournament was more for retired players? I think Scarlett still plays so it's not that surprising to me.

No, it's not all that surprising, I agree. But more that it's nice to see a player I've cheered for a very long time win a somewhat major tournament, even if it has to be against retired players.
