No. They tried to contact players such as Zest and Stats, but those players declined due to reasons like injuries or work commitments. As for some other players, it seems they have left the scene, and there was no easy way to get in touch with them, so they had to give up on inviting them.

The connection to the PTR server in China is laggy(need a network accelerator to connect to any of the global servers, often the nearest KR server. This also means players are interconnected through proxies, lag > 100ms). Besides, the current PTR patch (5.0.16 PTR) is extremely imbalanced. The organizers, SCBoy said that the current 5.0.16 PTR patch is a mess and players will play the game with the current regular patch.

Innovation was really impressive too. Kinda to be expected from his style but still, scary scary Terran when he's left to do his thing. Also, this has been such a fun idea. It's cool seeing these old legends again and it's real interesting how they match up with each other now with different levels of rust.

Come to think of it, that one was also on a particular patch too.

But the organizers were really happy with how it turned out—the crowd was super into it, the merch booths were busy the whole time, and there was a constant stream of people at the player meet-and-greets and signings. They’re already saying they want to bring SC2 back to the carnival next year, and this time they’re planning to put more money into it and invite even more players. That's awesome news!

Hopefully, HSC29 will be played on the old patch... I can't even begin to imagine what Serral is capable of doing on the new one.

HSC Will be played on the new patch because players preferred it, for useful data collection and probably because it’s easier to practice on live patch rather than on a mod

Nice to see Scarlett win a major tournament for the first time since the Olympics (the first and to my knowledge the only Olympics-related StarCraft medal). Come to think of it, that one was also on a particular patch too. It is nice, but I need to be honest. I thought this tournament was more for retired players? I think Scarlett still plays so it's not that surprising to me.

No, it's not all that surprising, I agree. But more that it's nice to see a player I've cheered for a very long time win a somewhat major tournament, even if it has to be against retired players.
