Outside of Reynor, any other foreigner has confirmed to play GSL S2?
|
Whoa, already?? Even though current GSL is still happening?

Thought they planned the 2nd GSL to be at the end of the year? Feels like they pushed it forward to get it done before EWC?

I think the implication is these 2 GSL's are part of the 2023-2024 season culminating in the EWC, and then hopefully there will be another GSL this year as a part of the 2024-2025 season with another 2 next year before EWC 2025.

If GSL continues (hopefully that rumor was wrong!)
Hope Rogue makes it, he'll probably take some time to be great again but he's smart (and cheesy) enough to squeak into ro16.

Thing is: That 2nd GSL would be kind of pointless, since it will not award slots for a Masters event or even a direct invite to the EWC. So it mostly just gives out extra points for the korean circuit?

No, Season 2 was always scheduled for the summer and before ESWC, with Season 3 being a TBD.

The qualifier might be a bit too early for him. That'd be 3 weeks between the end of his military service and the qualifier - would be impressive if he reached that level in this short amount of time, imo. His games vs. Classic were pretty good, but his lategame wasn't too impressive.

He has a decent chance of making it because there's almost exactly 16 Code S level players in Korea right now fighting for 16 spots.
Everyone who 'should' qualify actually did qualify in the season 1 qualifier, with TY and Rex being the two players who finished 17-18th. There's essentially no meaningful competition in the Code S qualifiers anymore unless a military returnee returns to full-time play or a high-level foreigner decides to compete.
The addition of Reynor and Rogue (and possibly some Chinese players?) will make it slightly more competitive this time around because it will be 18-ish Code S caliber players playing for 16 spots. So Rogue will prolly be fighting it out with NightMare, soO, and Ryung for one of the last spots, which seems doable.

Will parting play?

Close one for Rogue. Reynor through without dropping a map.
Elimination games for Nice/ Classic and Bunny/ Ryung
|
Nice is the first notable player to drop out. Not very surprising tbh.

I confused S1 and S2 on Liquipedia and was dissappointed again with the qualifier (16 going through, five not qualifying or something like that) until I noticed my mistake. Great idea to reduce the 2nd Round to groups of 4. Feels much more like an actual qualifier instead of a "who even shows up"-gallore.
