(seriously someone answer my question I have no idea how that works now lol) I was trying to look up your answer but there is no page in Liquipedia for IEM Katowice 2021 at the moment o.O Or I didn't find it. Considering there's a high chance it's online it doesn't matter much.

This should give you an idea of the standings - ESL Pro Tour/2020/21/Standings
Top 10 KR, Top 5 EU, Top 2 NA, #1 in LA, CN, OCE and ROA advance to Global Finals (I imagine)
There is also a play-in/wildcard tournament for: 11-18 KR 6-7 EU #3 NA #2 LA, CN, OCE and ROA

(seriously someone answer my question I have no idea how that works now lol) According to this ESL Pro Tour/2020/21/Standings he's not completely out of the woods yet but he should be ok.

There are 3 more Tournaments after DH Season finals and the weeklies, wich also give a hell lot of points.

Inno absolutely is, however. I'm assuming TSL 6 gives the same points as TSL 5 which is of course not certain and 11 more weeklies which covers all of January. I guess if the weeklies continue into February, it might just barely be possible for Inno to drop to 11th place on the 1 in a billion chance that everything works out in just the right way.
Oh wait I'm stupid, I only counted KR weeklies. Still, we would need a massive coincidence for Inno not to get the seed

No way. It's a 500k tournament, they're definitely doing it offline, with or without audience. Plus their website still says that "36 players will travel to Katowice".
Unless it's illegal for players to go.

Which may happen if COVID strikes again >< Like I rather keep my hopes low in this case. Also travelling may be impossible for Stats who's on the verge of enlisting for a year now, isn't he?

Stats was born in 1992 just like Zest and soO; he should enlist before 2021 judging by his age but you never know with korean army.

not to derail/regress the conversation here but did anyone else hear special last night on stream saying that maru didn't play since losing the gsl final a week and a half before his match?
considering the circumstances that've already been discussed to death here (time zone, servers, less than half the gsl prize pool), plus the fact that inno losing TvT to TIME isn't an unheard of result, and trap losing in a matchup known for a degree of randomness - the result for sure looks dramatic (with no koreans advancing so far) but isn't exactly the most unrealistic possibility, right?

It's not that any of these results on their own are completely ridiculous, it's more that all of them happening at once didn't sound very plausible going into the tournament. I still expect a double KR victory for group D.

The most unlikely thing that happened so far to my mind is Maru losing to Armani--he was the heavy favorite regardless of the circumstances (though ping and time of day should've been fine for that game) or whether he hadn't played for ten days.

I can handle a DH season finals being online but not having the year’s showpiece let the best of the best play without ping issues would be a crying shame.

Judging by their offline bo7 played in Code S it didn't seem that weird to me; those conditions were extremely favourable to Mary and Armani looked pretty strong so him winning 2-1 an online bo3 wasn't out of this world imho.
I was instead surprised by Neeb looking like a top player again after slumping for so much time. There were no signs for such a resurrection, I'm glad it happened!
TIME could beat current Inno and Astrea is deadly in PvP and I believed he could take down even the one of the top 2 specialist in the matchup but as, Elentos says, it's the combination of all these results that appears unlikely.
I expect Stats and TY to advance but online Stats and DH finals TY could surprise us as well.
