Do we know much about organisation? I know open brackets are tough to host. Are there back to back games scheduled or casters looking for the next available game if any? Lots of down time?

This probably wouldn't help you today, but https://www.intelextrememasters.com/season-14/katowice/sc2/schedule/ has the scheduled games per stream for the group stage. For the open bracket though, there's only the general timing schedule on that page, without specific stream links...
Feels so good to watch this, already starting of great. And the "Nexus" is great, seeing the highlights of some other games is so nice. Loving all the talent there too.

Man this really feels like a discount tournament without tasteless and artosis.
I know wardi is a hard worker but I find him so painful to listen to: "He's scouting around, he wants to see whats going on, hes checking around"...
It's like, mate, you've just said the same thing three times in a row... and why is it all narrating? I can see the screen, I want to hear predictions and insight >_<, not the audiobook version of the match for the near sighted.

souL went CC first into quick 3rd in game 1 but actually hid a couple barracks behind his mineral line and cut scvs and killed Denver with a timing that he wasn't prepared for and took some bad engages. souL didn't even have combat shield, was a tricky play.
Game 2, souL bunkered the third and sent a marine across to be annoying while faking stim at home with a proxy fusion core. Ended up doing good damage on a couple fronts and took a decent lead. Ended up being a somewhat close late game TvZ with mass libs and nukes but Denver was never really ahead at any point and bled out his army with no bank

Okay thanks! Looks like weird games, hopefully he can get out of the Protoss fiesta.
No shame losing to Patience, he's been doing very well. I'd definitely rate him over sOs. Heromarine can still make it, but it will be tough. Hoping Showtime will win against sOs.

You mean delivering as in actually winning stuff? No, but this has rarely been done by anyone apart from a super small group of of the absolute best for a long time now. But delivering as in being absolutly legit and a top contender? Absolutely. He made two Ro8s, a Ro4 and a 3rd place finish in 2019 in major events. He managed to beat Reynor respectevely Serral in two of those tournaments and was only stopped by them in the other ones. I mean - what do you want? We only had 3 foreigner champions at all last year, only 5 foreigner finalists.Considering HeroMarines achievements last year it's not unlikely he'll make it to a finale himself this year which should qualify everybody to be top notch in the foreigner world right now.

well at the moment heromarine is ranked 1. europe sc2 battlenet ladder 7000 mmr and he is the best europe terran since ages
Leaving out the fact that I doubt he's the highest ranked player in EU(despite being #1 in Grand Master), best EU Terran for ages? He was in 2019.
obviously you dont keep track
he did win more esl cups than any other player but to close this discussion he is like the 3 ore the 4 best europe player behind serral , reynour and maybe showtime so beeing in the top 5 is realy good and has nothing to do with overhyped

Its crazy Patience defeated Zoun 2-0 then Zoun goes on to rip all other protoss to shreds. 2-0 Super, 2-0 Creator, 2-0 Mana.... O_O Just how good is Patience right now
Edit: Also I'm cheering for whoever gets out of Showtime vs Astrea…. Or that is what my heart says but at the same time, soo much protoss.
Wardi actually noticed the earlier 2nd and 3rd gate before robo and knew the implications of it. He has clearly raised his game a couple of notches compared to what I remember from a few months ago

he is not new? Ive never seen him in a offline event
He played a few games in proleague for SKT
oh... so he has done already army?
I don't know. He joined Prime in 2014 and was a Proleague B-Teamer since then (despite on Prime everybody was a B-Teamer back then ). Aligulac doesn't list any matches of him since then until 2019. So he could very well done his army service inbetween. This would've been a very clever move since competition is now thinning out and he is still young enough to make a splash in the scene.
edit:

Wow, Zoun really handed that to Gabe. If he retreats after killing the 15+ SCVs, he likely forces Gabe into another SCV pull all-in that he would have crushed. Instead his brain turned off and he a-moved gateway units into 4 sieged tanks and a large stimmed army. Gabe vs Showtime should be sick! I hope Gabe pulls through.

My problem with his t-shirt is more that it's v-neck, than that it's a t-shirt.
No idea who to go for in the next match, maybe Showtime just cos he has a slightly better chance of giving some good matches against the Koreans, but obviously Gabe is plenty capable as well

Everyone should have practised their PvP ass off for this event, they knew the bracket way ahead. If he goes out 0-4 in PvP there really isn't anyone to blame but himself. Would have been more understandable to get knocked out in other MU to be honest seeing as how the bracket looks.
Looking at aligulac Supers PvP is really low, he is basically unfavored against every single protoss in the bracket.

I think it's important for new viewers to see the players faces so it's not just random name vs random name, but not too many SC2 viewers are new viewers these days so idk

Well if you need to go back up to 2014 games that kinda proves the point of the guy, you realize? If you want to see disruptors destroy some terran you need to go back 2 games: first game of HeroMarine vs ShoWTimE!
But yeah WM can get juicy hits sometimes, but they do tend to friendly fire far more than disruptors shots (who follow the ennemies units and stuff)

Disruptor shots don't follow shit, they go where you tell them to and you have to counter micro against the Terran splits. That's why that hit Showtime got is the exception. Cause Gabe wasn't looking.

Let's say it was one of the better matches that IEM.
The ZvZ between Serral and soO was really good. Hive master vs Lair master.
ZvZ GOAT vs ZvZ BOAT
The boat sank.
killed by roaches. soO is the ultimate KR ZvZ. Roaches and more roaches. And if need to be tricky some muta.
Serral accepted soO's challenge to the fullest and teched slower than usual in those series(yes, he added Vipers at one point). It was a great Roach Ravager vs Roach Ravager showdown that soO won narrowly yet deservingly, but Serral was playing below his standards last Katowice.

Not unlikely at all. Killing buildings to force broodlings has been done since the start. Bly was in a awful position and he had to hold at all costs and the broodlings was just extra DPS to help him. You will find clips on youtube of other zergs doing the same.
Besides you need like 20 transfuses to get the hatchery back to a decent health count which he didnt have so a single zealot could just take a swipe at it and kill it, so he wanted to get everything out of the hatch when Has his army was nearby.
Also Has his army was moving away from the hatch so a sudden attack move with all his roaches on the hatch must have been the missclick of the century.

A repeat of the epic Has v Maru game would be very much appreciated for sure. Agree with Zest PvP as well but you know, maybe he (Zest) decides to do one of his legendary cannon rushes!
But yeah Has is going to get slaughtered
Amazing to think Has and Maru have only played each other twice given how memorable both those series were.
The first time was the maxed out blink stalker army blinking into a dozen tanks on Vaani. The second time involved Has going proxy-stargate shield battery five games in a row.

It was pretty obvious it was intentional
Wasn't obvious to me. What would the intent be?
it looks like Has didn't want to finish it because the broodlings do a lot of damage, same reason why he didn't finish off the roach warren, Bly wanted the broodlings to see if he could hold
That makes a lot of sense and also sounds extremely unlikely. I can't tell if I'm being trolled or not, which in the end is the feeling I should always get from a Has game, so thanks! :D
Yeah, I know the Hatchery was as good as dead anyway, so I didn't think it was an issue or anything, but I've so seldom seen structure Broodlings be impactful that I'm really surprised that both players were playing around that.
And I wasn't wondering if it was a misclick, I was looking at the tabs and didn't see what killed the Hatch, so I wasn't sure if it was Has or Bly.
But thanks for the information, this isn't something I would have considered, so I appreciate it.

Part of me wants him make us eat our words by causing upsets again, even if it means humiliating my favorites

Yeah we only want macro games without any cheese. So much fun.. Also Has was the player being cheesed in the last 2 series, he just reacted and won with solid macro play funnily enough. What a strange comment to type after the matches he played.

Yep - Wardi filled in for Mr. Bitter at the (relatively) last minute.
