Ha, as optimistic as these youngsters are, dont think they are thinking about Kato atm.. Good thing for neeb he is “stuck” with playing the NA region though. As there is a good chance he wouldnt have qualified otherwise with this years level.

I think for MaxPax to keep the qualify to Kato dream alive, he would have to get at least top 3 in EU. That means, he has to beat Serral, Reynor or Clem in a Bo5. I can see him taking a Bo5 on a good day from any other foreigner, but not those 3, so it s pretty much impossible..

Isn't MaxPax overrated? He has decent results in these low stakes ESL cups but he got beaten pretty badly in the meaningful EPT EU... Also HeroMarine is the god of Open Cups, having better results than Clem a lot of times, but Clem outshined him hard in DH Masters Fall both EU and international (HeroMarine didn't qualify). He even had a slightly worse result than MarineLord (granted this had to do with MarineLord being on fire and HeroMarine choking in TvP...). So yeah MaxPax is a promising player but I wouldn't be worried for Neeb judging on Open Cups only.

Many give him a limitless ceiling but I don't think he overrates himself. And I don't think 3-4 is the definition of getting browbeaten to nonexistence. If anything he could have made top 12 at least if not for some critical errors. MarineLord also did nothing in the early part of the season. I have yet to see if he can maintain his form for a third season. Season Finals are a thing, but getting beaten 0-4 there puts a minus on it. Clem is the more reliable at the moment but he still misses the last bit to get over the Koreans.
As about Neeb if it wasn't for the better points at the Open Cups, Astrea would be in front of him. So even if his form isn't bad by any stretch, not the best either and it's the same thing several weeks at least.

Even if the qualification rankings were worldwide and not gated region bhy region, Neeb would likely still secure a direct qualification given his current tally but his worries would have probably been more uncomfortable. As for all the EU players outside of the top 8, given the number of points at the stake they have nothing to lose. At worse if they fizzle they can still scrape money in the smaller events.

There is no shame or reasons for alarm when losing a bo3 PvP vs someone not as good as you.

In PvP and maybe PvZ, no.
His PvT isn't up to the level of the other match ups.
Edit: he just turned 16 i think too so nobody is overrated at that age because they are still improving.

A lot of the HYPE around him is because of the potential people see in him. He s 16 and allready 6.8k on ladder and top 10 foreigners in Alligulac. Yes it s mostly low stackes tournament, but that still as good as Clem was when he turnen 16. After all Clem needed 2 more years to explode. Also MaxPax has his own style and is crafting a lot of builds, je s by no means a one Trick pony, Who has 1 or 2 builds per matchup. He still makes pretty bad errors from time to time, but he s improving more than any other pro atm.

I mean the real reason Marinelord did better than Heromarine was simply because of the bracket. Gabe had to face Serral in the lower bracket just to qualify for the season finals while Marinelord faced off against the likes of Skillous and Gerald instead for a top 4 spot.

I didn’t know he was quite that young, I, like many others like the unorthodox but logical and strategically sound Max Pax build. Shows a shrewd Starcraft brain.
He’s trending up quicker than I expected perhaps sooner rather than later he’ll take that first big win and ascend to the title of Maximus Paximus

Too bad Reynor thwarted Solar's attempt for an ESL Open Cup triple crown--EU was always going to be a stretch what with the ping. Has any other player attempted all three cups consecutively? The timezones are awful (and while Solar registered for NA he of course might not play in it).

I would highly recommend people to watch the Dolan - DRG series from todays ESL cup whicch basetrade tv casted. On paper it looks like a total mismatch, but it didnt turn out to be that way. And oh boy some of the builds Dolan did.. Even though I watched tons of dreamhack, this was prob the most entertaining series I watched this month.

EDIT: Gerald vs DRG g3 might be the biggest mid game comeback ive ever seen in LotV EDIT2!!

It starts at 2:10:00 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/782879977 And yeah that g3 just now between Gerald and DRG was insane as well. I wouldnt call it the best comeback ever though, even though Gerald was in a bad spot multiple time he kept DRG at bay just because his army was better and I didnt feel Gerald was out of it after recovering from losing his 3rd base early on. But how he played that out from behind, his army control etc.. Wow

A creative prodegy foreign Protoss would certainly be more than welcome!

Holy moly. Solar got first in KR, third in EU and first in NA again

Important 5 points there for uthermal, with lambo and elazer on his doorstep and another 2 tournaments with EPT points to come before Kato these 2 spots behind Showtime are going to get interesting.

What happened in the finals? It was over so fast.

Yeah, while the Top 5 is pretty much seit in stone allready there could still happen a lot behind them. Also keep in mind, that the last ESL Global Event will give a direkt seed to Kato. That means, if Clem, Reynor or Serral win it, uThermal could still get a direkt invitation and Lambo could get to the Open stage

Ah yes, knew about the lambo situation but forgot it could also impact the 6th seeded player. With TSL announced now though so much still can happen. Gonna be good
