Awesome matches right up to the finals, which were a bit one sided, but still I am SO STOKED by how well Reynor is doing, kid is going places no doubt. Also I look forward to Harris1st singing my praises for the next year in his sig muahaha. ![]() You mad lad lol

Serral is the present and the future of Sc2(and he is better than Dark). Dark, however, deserves to be Player of the Year 2019. It must be tough supporting the most consistent, highest performing player in sc2 who wins almost all the time lmao

In any of case, Serral would have won because he has the best ZvZ in the world AND because he is 9-2 against Dark in their last encounters; that's just my opinion tho, it does not matter. It's ridicolous that you resort to the single biggest throw in Serral's career, it's not like Dark lost eight finals by choking hard. Its funny how you think i dislike Serral or something like that, i just can't stand some fanboys who think he is Flash+Jaedong of SC2 and then some. If you look thru anything i say here or on Reddit you'd see i like him a lot. I just don't think he is a Bonjwa or GOAT and i think he has a lot of work ahead of him before he matches Maru, Inno or Life. And i do think Serral is the best player in the world right now, even after Dark's win.

In the last rating on October 23rd, Dark had a better rating in ZvT at 3182 vs Serral's 3131. Since October 23rd, the only ZvT Dark played was to 3-0 Maru (the highest rated TvZ in the world at 3169) and the only ZvT Serral played was to 3-0 Time (the 14th highest TvZ at 2433). Yet now Serral's ZvT is 3201 (an increase of 70 points! for beating someone over 500 points below him) and Dark's is only 3192 (an increase of 10 points for beating someone only 13 points below him).

Games vs other races do affect the ratings as well, just not quite as much.

The ratings have degree of uncertainty (which is the proper statistical way), Serral's vT (3201 +- 166) rating is far less certain than Dark's (3192 +- 139).

Serral has even more games listed than Dark and is generally a very consistent player, 0 reason he should have that insanely much more uncertainty than Dark.

They haven't updated the elo for Dark's games today it seems. It will probably be higher tomorrow or soon. Also, I noticed that Aligulac rewards players with ZvT elo even though they won a ZvZ or ZvP.

The per race ratings are not independent from one another. And not all the results have been processed yet into the preview rating (the rating are only actually updated every period). For Dark his rating is only currently being affected by his victories against soO and Showtime (http://aligulac.com/players/76-Dark/period/253/), whereas for Serral everything except his game against Reynor is being projected already (http://aligulac.com/players/485-Serral/period/253/).

Ah, this makes much more sense. I do wonder what the reasoning is for making the per race ratings not independent is though.

You get better results this way than when you don't make the ratings independent. I think part of it might be that having roughly three times more games being factored in allows the ratings to better react to changes in the player's skill relative to other players.

Yeah I'm really not sure about this. I feel like it punishes specialized players and rewards well rounded players, and can also make players look much better than they are overall just by getting bracket luck and avoiding problem matchups. There is definitely some correlation between overall skill and skill in an individual matchup though.
