Except a lot of people in LotV? ZvZ sucked in HotS. It is arguably the best mirror in legacy behind maybe TvT. PvP is by far the worst. ZvZ has high variety high intensity matches. Heck go watch any Serral vs Reynor final or Dark vs Serral or Serral vs Rogue from Blizzcon or heck, even go back to Nerchio vs Dark from the first GSL vs the World. It's fantastic

1. Serral performing "pretty well" (since spring 2018)
2. Korean scene taken as a whole surpass the foreign scene as a whole (since...)
No reasons for alarmistic attitudes from either scenes.

Id like to pop in and say I unironically enjoy ZvZ, some of my favorite series have been soO vs. Serral.
It might be because I grew up during GomTvT and thus despise Terran and conversely love Protoss, so Zerg hits that nice middle ground where Im not too invested in my racial preferences and get to enjoy Roach Wars. Blingling wars is too high adrenaline for me though, I'm all about the Roach war lifestyle.

I generally thought ZvZ sucked in SC2 (though you'd get interesting games here and there, like any matchup), and I think the series that decisively changed my mind was soO vs Dark sometime in the last couple years, but I don't remember exactly when/where.

So, in this tournament, World vs Korea is 3-2(12-9) and Serral vs Korea 3-0(9-3) for a 6-2(21-11) aggregate; it almost never happens! Let's see if koreans strike down in the team competition at least, i'm expecting them to go 5-3.

Month ago we wondered how he manage in his worst match up ZvP.
Kicking Protosses since then and only getting better after loss to Stats in Assembly.
Serral sees something to fix, Serral fix it. The storyline of his reign.
The Real upset would be Elazer capable of beating his Zerg Overseer. Good luck.

ZvZ sucked when people used to make 200+ supply of roaches and nothing else but now there's a lot of variation. It is actually very exciting to watch but the meme of ZvZ sucks has stayed.
