Haha, I remember some ppl saying that the ro16 pairings were to help some foreigners play in the later rounds. Maybe we should've been saying that the pairings helped some koreans appear in the later rounds

Given the results it would indicate that the former may have been onto something

just because the foreigners beat the Koreans, doesn't change the fact that they literally made the brackets to have some foreigners advance

I am used to korean bias on TL and usually it is based off some kind of evidence but posts like this makes TL as good as reddit or the sc2 forums.

The korean die hard fans need to take a deep breath, it's not the end of the world.

Maru got stats'd, you give Maru a road with only Z & T and then he'd either have to hit Serral or TY to have a chance at defeat.

Stats HAD to avoid PvP basically, he's favoured vs everyone else even Serral.

Dark got ZvZ'd, it's his worst MU, and EU ZvZ is STRONK, I think mostly from training with Serral.

So that's 3 of the strongest KR contenders basically getting really really bad bracket luck, the other top Koreans were all eliminated by... Serral, it looks one sided, but all you have to do is go back to ASUS ROG to see total korean domination ( Serral being the exception).

Honestly even after this tournament, if you were to rate the top 8 players, it'd be Serral #1 followed by 7 Koreans.

Plz calm down with the recency bias, GSL is still stronger than WCS.

Agreed 100%

they didnt make powe rank after blizzcon just to not put serral at #1

Amazing that isn't it.

Also, I"m wondering if there is anyone like Stats who can look really strong for part of the tournament and then crash and burn unexpectedly (IEM WC, GSL ST, HSC, this one)? I guess INnoVation maybe?

I wouldn’t go as far as crash maybe, I can’t think of anyone who consistently I feel played the best Starcraft at a tournament but doesn’t actually win like Stats does

Maybe, poster who said it I assume English isn’t his first language, I took it to say that if we work hard and practice hard we can close the gap, not that Elazer said foreigners practise more than Koreans

ZvZ is only behind TvZ as the best matchup. Many of the best games recently have been ZvZ: Serral vs Reynor at Montreal, Serral vs Rogue at Blizzcon, even Elazer vs Dark at this tournament. On the other hand we have TvT which sucks these days, and who wants to watch Protoss?

ZvZ is literally the worst matchup in the game.

PvT is by far the best matchup.

The best games of 2019 featured Protoss ( Maru bs stats at super tournament, and serral vs stats at ASUS)

I don't think so, I liked it.
This hate on ZvZ and on the tournament itself is out of place.

I think it would be the best thing ever if Elazer won the whole thing at this point.

The only people I see beating Serral in this current Meta are the three korean Terrans, Reynor, stats, neeb and probably a few other Koreans if they were at their peak. Even then, the other two races are at a disadvantage and going late game against zerg is suicide.
