I made a mere suggestion that some foreigners may be close to him Honestly, Serral's the best foreigner right now by a pretty significant margin. He shitstomped more or less everyone in WCS; he won the event with, like, 3 losses the whole way. Now he's trashing koreans, too, having won sets vs Trap, Zest, Rogue and Impact. You can't really say 'yeah, but Scarlett is top 8 in korea' because she's one of the few foreigners to really dedicate herself to GSL, so it's not an equal comparison. However, with Scarlett disappointing at both WCS and IEM, and Neeb not quite finding himself, Serral's left as the best foreigner by far right now. They can catch up - but it's going to be hard if Serral keeps this up.

Plus I think he’s already elite now. OK. Assuming he continues this progression he is showing, i expect him to become more consistent with good games in important moments like a playoffs against good koreans. Like what NOT happened this series I mean in this series imo he wasn't as crisp in his mechanics as yesterday, at least there were signs like in defense against oracles, ling harassing wall etc, where he had some mistakes that to me showed nerves. Maybe he will never be that consistent but i believe he will continue improving and get there

Scarlett literally beat Serral just before her GSL match, they are both very good Serral is more consistent though Scarlett seems very peaky and easily thrown off her game.

Today was the first time that I got this feeling, since I saw the first stream of Stephano and he hotkeyed and rallied his eggs, which blew my mind. I am actually getting the urge to play sc2 from watching him and I haven't played in a month ![]()

Surely then we must give her leave to lose elsewhere for not being “dedicated” to those tournaments because she’s focused on Korea

It's probably not worth the trouble for him as he's unlikely to win as much money there as he would outside Korea. It might be worth for 1 season just to play on KR ladder more and to experience team house training though.

Scarlett is a very good player, but to me it feels as though she kind of has to prep for her opponent, and in situations where her prep isn't as strong (IEM WC, WCS) she falters super hard. It's tough to say someone's better than Serral when they've lost twice to Namshar, gotten thrashed by Guru, and lost to TRUE, all in their best (by far) matchup. Not to mention that she's also a combined 3-22 in games against Neeb, Kelazhur and uThermal, the three best non-zerg foreigners she's played.

She finally won a premier tournament, and she's the first foreigner since Jinro to make it to the Ro8 in GSL after qualifying for it. She's doing things very few foreigners have ever done. For as good as Serral is playing, his achievements in this tournament are not that uncommon for good foreign players.
