I mean, I don't dislike them, but just this attitude of wanting them to win to "prove" that foreigners are bad is so negative. I think there's a certain irony in the fact there's a tinge of elitism wanting to prove it's better (nobody is disputing that), compared to the old days when everybody wanted to cheer on every foreign player to do well as an underdog, and as some kind of support against the Koreans.
Irritating. I just have no faith in foreigners in Korea. Also, I like sOs and want him to win regardless of where he is from. I think there's a difference in thinking they're going to lose, and wanting them to lose. First is understandable, I think the second is lame. What? The simple fact is that some of the guys here actually like the korean players better. That happens naturally when you follow the korean scene closely tbh. Just like you want the korean to lose because you like the foreigner better, there is no difference U disgust me. Koreans aren't even white you can't relate to them. How dare you cheer for them. TBF, it's definitely harder to relate to them because of the language barrier, but as i said we on TL are pretty hardcore so that's no real issue for a lot of us. Doesn't matter one bit to me because interviews are boring as fuck usually, foreigner or not.

Irritating. It was more fun to cheer on foreigner before the region lock. Now it just feel like they get the easier road and the most skilled foreigner (like Neeb) get free money as they don't have to fight against the absolute best at a regular basis.
I don't begrudge them for that, though, and I still want to support them.
It's not like Neeb is getting free, easy money. I mean, he won the Kespa cup and it almost seemed like he outclassed the players against him.

Irritating. Cause if you watch Korean SC2 for more than 6 years, you actually know where these guys come from and start cheering for them. Ppl like u are the reason sc2 died.
the reason sc2 died is you, GumBa. I know you killed it in the library with the golden mouse.

It took Rogue months of occupying the #1 spot at 7k mmr to win his IEM.
Zest did just win a tournament though, and that was before he reached his ladder highs. Also when Artosis said that, Zest was at #5 on KR or smth. Now he's 1 and 2.

Yet we knew that the old system would have suppressed players like Neeb. We have the deepest foreigner scene ever now

Irritating. Or maybe, just maybe, some people simply prefer watching the absolute best Starcraft and tend to prioritise that. No reason to attribute to malice that which can be just aswwell explained by differences in opinion / preference. If the foreigners beat them, they deserve to be there. I want foreigners to be the best - that's why I want them to win.
So just to understand it, if someone wants the koreans to win he is negative, etc but you wanting the foreigners to win is ok? Seems weird to me.

Ladder can also be very different though. Showtime's ladder rank didn't waver when he crashed and burned out of all the tournaments.

Irritating. Cause if you watch Korean SC2 for more than 6 years, you actually know where these guys come from and start cheering for them. I watched the very first season of GSL live mate. I even remember Rainbow and DJ DOC performing beforehand! Then why is it hard to understand that someone cheers for ByuN (who's been around since 2010) instead of a foreigner? I barely know Neeb, why would I cheer for him over ByuN? Cause he's from the west and so am I? That's even a more stupid reason to cheer for someone in my opinion

I mean, I'm kiwi. Pretty much everybody outside of NZ likes it when the All Blacks lose because it's the underdog winning.
The rare American rugby fan might watch Super Rugby, don't know who half their national team's players are, but if they were to watch the two teams if they ever came up against each other would support the Eagles.
