Yeah I'll never forget that moment when I had a draw against Blue in Gen 1 when my last Pokémon knocked out his last one and then fainted from the recoil. And then I had to redo the entire Elite 4.

Also in X&Y after you pick your starter you have your first battle against one of your friends. All the starters start with an elemental move and you fight the friend with the elemental weakness.
I mean, what's the point? At least Blue purposely picked the starter that's good against yours just to be a dick.
