I wonder how map selection works here. Is map selection always the map for tournaments? It never really gets mentioned but would play a factor in this for sure. Regardless it could impact the payouts bo7s or even bo5s if the map pool contains any racially favored maps.

Yeah they are. They even heal your Pokémons before fights (or is it after ? not sure)
Fighting that prick in the worst moments when half your pokemon were dead or poisoned or something was half the fun!
Yeah I'll never forget that moment when I had a draw against Blue in Gen 1 when my last Pokémon knocked out his last one and then fainted from the recoil. And then I had to redo the entire Elite 4.

Also in X&Y after you pick your starter you have your first battle against one of your friends. All the starters start with an elemental move and you fight the friend with the elemental weakness.
I mean, what's the point? At least Blue purposely picked the starter that's good against yours just to be a dick.

Either that or play the remakes if you have money and a 3DS. But since he's trying to get back into Pokémon, it's better to play for free
After double checking to make sure, I'm fairly certain that one of the rivals in the original Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald is actually the worst rival in Pokémon ever.
Because your last battle against them is before they fully evolve their starter.

They fixed that in ORAS, but yea gen 3 rival is utter garbage. And yes emerald is way better. Unless like me you really like Kyogre. In which case you should just get Alpha Sapphire. You do get Kyogre and Groudon in Emerald, but after the elite four.

Honestly I would be surprised if Has gets knocked out. Especially if zerg makes it to final match. But given how vZ is China's specialty, that doesn't seem likely.

While X/Y is a brand new generation, I prefer ORAS myself because it has better endgame content + more Pokémons available overall. So I agree with your choice ORAS also has many more legendaries available than X/Y, though X/Y has the ones missing from ORAS.

I prefer the mascot legendary from Sun personally, but I'll wait to make a decision until I can see all the differences between the 2 games. Would suck to miss out on my favorites because I picked the wrong version.
But yeah, I got Pokémon X, the ORAS games seem a lot better.

I could never beat brock in yellow
I like how the official guide for Yellow told players to level their Pikachu to level 20, at which point it would learn Slam, making the gym reasonably easy.

who reads guides for games??
I miss the days when all games came with an extensive manual detailing character backstories and listing interesting trivia. I was all about those as a kid.

Yellow is best. (I started with Yellow, so I may be biased )
I could never beat brock in yellow
I like how the official guide for Yellow told players to level their Pikachu to level 20, at which point it would learn Slam, making the gym reasonably easy.

Oh yeah, opening a new big box PC game was quite magical compared to nowadays.

I wonder if Life broke him in 2015 GSL season 1. I can't remember how he looked in season 2, but in season 3 he looked terrible. Getting 0-4'd in RO16 by Terrans.

I think in season 2 he was still completely ridiculous until the Ro8. I'm pretty sure that was the season where he played vs Rogue, was down 100 supply and 2 bases and micro'd him to death. I think it was also around the time he got 2nd at IEM Shenzhen, so he should still have been fine.
But then it looked like he just stopped practicing.

and then he lost in GSL ro8 vs byul because he forgot to put his zealot on hold position TWICE

Barely. And with a lot of help from coffee in game 1.
Oh yeah. Parting is nothing to what he used to be. It's sad to see. Unless he gets picked up by a Chinese team or something and earns some sweet streaming money I guess he's donezo with SC2.

I think WCS changes played a huge role in his lack of motivation. in the first LotV DH he still got to the finals. remember, he can't play in PL and can't play in foreign tournaments.

...he could still play in minor tournaments though: I know Douyu or Leifeng or Americas Open cups or similar are not exactly top spots but at least he would play and have medium/hard opponents and keep in practice for top korean tournaments...
I don't get why the chinese scene is so weak, they got money, they are one of the only country with a good number of new player comming into the scene and also other more experience players, yet they always seems to get crush by everybody, even when they are playing at home.
Guys is Ptitdrogo even good now? I mean he's just.. bad after his FLUKE dreamhack win. I was rooting for him for a while... now he just loses everything :<

What a weird prize pool format. If you go 2-0, 1-2, 2-0 you earn more than the 2-0, 2-0 player. Toodming clearly playing it smart. But seriously, $2,700 for two bo3s for Scarlett? :o Am I right with that conversion? That is really sweet. China's where it's at I guess.

Lots of new money willing to sponsor esports out of pocket I'm guessing. That or Chinese viewership is huge.

Douyu sponsored this event as one of the test drives of their viewing ticket system, I can't reveal numbers but they sold significantly more than they ever imagined, even surpassing one of the biggest League tournaments in China. Chinese SC2 fans are a lot older and have stable income, their spending power is not to be underestimated.

Sorry tt, you're right that I'm just not good right now, and Comparing on the korean ladder right compared to the last GPL in china some months ago, I actually got worst. I never was the best mechanical player (I can be pretty fast but the F2 addiction makes me lose a lot of games) but I used to have pretty good gamesense and strategies, now I just do stuff without really getting it. For exemple when neeb plays PvZ his sentries/Stalker/imo army will always presure nicely, be cost effective and he always transition smoothly behind it, while I usually bash my head against the wall and lose my army to a smaller Zerg army.
Idk really, but I'm trying hard and I hope I'll be able to do a redo of Leipzig one day, that'd be the dream. Instead of going into a tournament and wondering what I am gonna kill time after I lose the first round <.<

That's cool to hear. The esports scenes I like the most (SC2 and HotS) always seem to be hanging by a thread financially, so it'd be cool if the Chinese SC2 scene has some stability. Especially since their HotS scene basically imploded (none of the regional HotS scenes are looking particularly healthy).

Im not a fan of your's but losing games or even matches to the Chinese "who is this guy" players is something every gamer has to do. They are the enigma

It isn't really weird if you think about it. Getting out first or second in your group is the same except for seeding. So winning the extra game in an extra match gets you a little more. If you X-0 in the playoffs you make more. Seems fair to me.
