i still think that polt can lose. zerg seems very strong. even though it seemed like nerchio got wrecked, he had massive supply leads and hit max really really early with early ultras. if nerchio only defended well, he would have won. instead he took all his units and tried to go for the kill.

Supply leads don't mean much when your plan is to get fast T3 and go for the kill while your opponent's plan is countering exactly that.
We haven't seen Polt match up against a zerg that wants to go into the lategame for real and not into early ultra attack, so maybe Snute can do better but I think he'll just get killed before reaching lategame, if he beats Hydra.

Yeah me too, but apparently Polt was just too strong. Nothing will prevent him from getting that Blizzcon seed now, Hydra and Snute didn't seem strong enough.

I think Snute matches up way better than vs Polt though, he will just sit back and defend all the drops, instead of doing an ultra attack while dying to drops. Hydra looked beatable in zvz, but I think he will do just fine in ZvT. The final should not be a stomp imo.

Thing is Hydra didn't look great vs Happy, Snute didn't look so strong vs MaSa and MajOr... I don't think it will be a stomp either, but I think Polt is gonna take it without too much fear (4-1 or 4-2).

I'd say Snute looked /really/ strong against MajOr's style in g1, which is very similar to what Polt's doing. Happy on the other hand played very different to Polt, no?

In fact I didn't watch all Happy games but it seems he played mostly multitask based bio. And yeah Snute looked alright because he won, but MajOr missed many opportunities Polt won't miss.

Which may be a little bit of a pickle, if the country they happen to be in does not want to keep them indefinitely. Hence the asylum.

the difference between Polt and MajOr is that Polt will go for the throat when he creates advantage and he will finish the Zerg off

It's not like there's much choice for South Korea. If you have a crazy aggressive military dictatorship 30 miles from your capital you need to be prepared for the worst.

I very much dislike the roach ravager ultra style, but also realize mlb is harder to pull off these days. Solar used it once yesterday vs speed and looked pretty sharp though, seems viable sometimes.

What are you smoking, man? Last year, we had a WCS playground for foreigners, while keeping a huge amount of big tourneys for everyone, including THIS VERY THING WE ARE WATCHING.

I'm talking about WCS itself specifcally, not the circuit tournaments. If you take those into account Zergiica's statement makes even less sense, because Polt can't participate in any of those (without going to open qualifiers on site) just like any other Korean.

You can extrapolate and see that, but what we've seen from Polt is a very counterattack based strategy which Snute /does/ match up well against because he's a lot more defensive than Nerchio (who tries to abuse the meta and do what you -should- do) and FireCake (who's very aggressive and tries to kill asap) and shouldn't struggle with that specific strategy. Therefor, I'd say Snute matches up better against Polt stylistically than any zerg he's faced so far, although Polt is still on-point so it'll be hard. But, I'd say it'd be a pretty tight set overall. 4-2, maybe 4-3, Polt.

yeah exactly. But I'm really alright with being proved wrong and having Hydra/Snute make Polt suffer in the finals -as long as Polt wins in the end lol.

Polt does this only because he knows that's how Nerchio plays, it's probably far easier for him to beat Snute because even MajOr with random drops had the game won vs Snute

Game 1 was very close, Game 2 was reasonable but Polt got upper hand in the end. Game 3 was a crushing all-in.

Complete annihilation. Polt outclassed Nerchio, although the first 2 games gave the illusion that it was close.

First two games were rather tense, Polt finished it off with a good old hellbat marauder marine push on Prion Terraces. Overall Polt was the better player.

Just imagine, Blizzcon this year could have 6 matches identical to or more onesided than Polt vs Nerchio to start the tournament. What an amazing system.

just to add, last year's WCS season one result : winner Polt, runner up Hydra. So indeed if you look at it like a WCS, nothing has changed, if you look at it like IEM katowice, though...

Let's just say IEM Katowice doens't exist anymore

As long as the "foreigners" aren't preparing for SC3 I have faith in their ability to prepare well and not being roflstomped even by the likes of herO/Zest/Dark...
