Okay so here's the awkward part: We still can't announce the venue yet - as we have said multiple times publicly, until we step foot in, or place a deposit on it, we don't want to promise a location that may change. The only exception to this is players that qualify may contact Rifkin privately, in order to prepare potential accomodations.
*PLAYERS PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE PLAYING IN ANY OF THE QUALIFIERS: If you qualify for our tournament, you will need to sign a simple document allowing us permission to use your face/image on a set of player cards we're creating for the event. If you don't know if you are allowed to sign this right, please consult with your team manager!

There will be an open bracket, with 6 spots available, live at the venue. More details to come: Day 1 (August 21) will be dedicated to the open bracket. Day 2 (August 22) will be dedicated to the group stage Day 3 (August 23) will be Ro8 -> Finals
On June 10 2015 11:34 Circumstance wrote: Quite hyped here as well. I'm assuming that for the sake of travel costs, North America is strictly North America?
I don't see why this should matter. If a Latin American player manages to qualify and wants to pay the difference between their travel and the $250, why shouldn't they be allowed to?
I mean hell... I'm flying from Toronto to Calgary, AB in a couple weeks and my domestic flight is $700..
Update: after some discussions we decided to only Citizenship block only 1 of the 2 NA qualifiers.
To be clear: players like Jaedong, Stardust etc may participate in Qualifier #1 if they'd like, but not NA qualifier #2. They'd have to try for the last chance qualifier, or the open bracket if they fail qualifier #1.

He didn't scout with his overlord. He decided to save his overlord when it was going to die anyway. Snute has a history of having scouting problems.
He also didn't bait out any forcefield. The one time he tried he lost 7 roaches.

Thats not snute being cocky, thats him being/feeling shitty against protoss atm.. and scouting wouldnt really have helped him, since his build doesnt get him hydras fast enough to defend, and thats what he was trying to do
I can understand losing to an immortal push. It happens to everyone. But losing to TWO immortal pushes in the same series? There is no excuse to lose to a second time. You should be aware and on your guard that it could be coming.

It didn't work the first time. Why did snute decide to do the hydra build again? Seems like he was being cocky. Probably thinking Welmu got lucky the first time, so he decides to do the same hydra build.
Welp, I guess Liquid can't win everything. Snute did well and won the IEM shenzen qualifier. Today wasn't Snute's day. He still one of my favorite players. I don't mean to be too hard on him. I just really want him to do well. Snute fighting!
didn't see game 3 but to answer the hydra thing there are different immortal timings. in game 1 welmu was using the very aggressive 2 gas zealot heavy version whose entire point is to hit faster, as rifkin was pointing out normally you would want to build up an assload of sentries but you can trade that off for a faster allin. thats why hydras werent ready in time, that and because welmu dealt with the ling counterattack (which was a good idea) very easily.
can't comment on snute's mindset in game 3 but if it was a scouting problem then well there you go. saying "he should have been ready/scouted better, there's no excuse" is easy but sometimes you just fuck up your scouting or get an incorrect gut read, it happens even to the highest of high level players
i read the feedback and agree with it, leaving personal excuses and reasons aside i think most kespa zergs would have no problems dealing with these types of builds so i'm aiming to improve my play (as always) and hopefully shut protoss plays like this down hard the next time. it might not be the most celebrated opinion out there but imo skilled zergs should consistently beat these builds. so maybe next time.

G2 Ruff 2 base mech and air while Pengwin took the whole map into throwing away 4 200 supplies armies and being very timid. BTTV got sick of that and switched series, not casting G3. The story on G3 said PF rush from Ruff and apparently Pengwin 2-1 by the bracket

Due to scheduling misunderstanding on the TL Calendar, HSC Global Qualifiers & Hell Its Aboot Time Last Chance Qualifier are at the same time. We will try to allow 1 bo3 at a time grace periods before walk overs for players intending to play in both.
We do allow it as well - in case of scheduling conflicts we would also try to cover HIAT or HSC either same time or one after another. BaseTrade may cover any HSC game as well

strong Terrans in NA?
basically hoping Polt shows up to open bracket
Basically. Or any Korean or European taking vacations on NA
(For in EU we've got a very wide and large pool of good Terrans. Like 2 or 3...)
Damn it I lost a nail biting series against Reynor, 1-2
G1 on Coda, I went for reaper-hellion and killed his third while he did some damage with speedlings. Followed up with a hellbat attack and denied his third. Tried a 2 base bio all-in, but he held off and won with muta-ling-bling.
G2 on Cactus Valley. I open a greedy CC first into 3CC, 2 factory BFH. He makes a lot of speedlings early, killing my first two hellions but doesn't do a lot more. I hit just before mutas are out and kill at least 40 workers, not sure. I have proper defense up at all my 3 bases so I take no damage from the mutas.
From that point on it takes a looooooong time to kill him, he counterattacks as soon as I move out. Eventually his 1-1 roaches aren't enough vs my 3-3 mech and I take g2.
G3 on Iron Fortress. I hate this map TvZ so I just 2 rax from the middle. He doesn't scout it and I barely get my bunker up with some marines in it. I kill off his hatchery and macro my way out of it.
I go up to 5 rax with medivacs while he goes standard 3 base play a bit behind. I sneak out my first 2 medivacs and manage to kill off his main base. I try to get his third as well but lose everything leaving the base at like 20 hp.
My micro is poor and I lose way too much to banelings during every engagement. Eventually he overwhelms my forces and just kills me. Feel I could've won this one
Overall it was a very fun match! Thanks for all the support LR :D

at some point it's not bad luck anymore, but inferiority
You're still one of the best foreigners out there, making semi's 3 times is nothing to be too ashamed of. I think you can make it work again for sure :D
I will be THAT guy and say that this isn't really an awesome lineup tbh. Still looking forward to it regardless though, JD action is enough for me to be happy haha

We have no way to predict who will come to the open bracket, but I for one am really happy with this line up. It's going to show the strength (or failure) of our event without being carried by a line up of the top 16 koreans in the world.

Could be worse. You have some relatively weak Koreans and some pretty good foreigners, and I'd watch that.

More importantly than strength, this tournament's got one of the most entertaining Koreans in Hyun.

I could not agree more with that.
I mean i don't wanna say that there can't be good games with this lineup (sometimes it's even better to not have the absolute top players for the excitement of the gameplay), but this probably isn't a lineup which anybody would describe as a "dream lineup" or anything like that. I am sure the event will be fun no matter what though, still very much looking forward to it (sry for being THAT guy, hehe)
You can have a tournament without an awesome lineup, as said. I will probably love this tournament no matter whose there. That said I really hope the open bracket produces a few qualifiers I have heard of .
I think the torunament will be awesome, I expect some of the more casual HSC vibe and an overall good time where it's not just about the games. By the time we it gets to the top8/top4 we will see sick games!
And you might say the Koreans aren't strong, but they are strong enough that Parting and FanTaSy couldn't qualify. If it was those two going through, nobody would complain about the strength of the Korean players .
It just means that Hyun and Seed are really good again!
