Back to Asia for the first event of IEM Season 10. This qualifier will send two from the European regional server to the event.
Qualifier Cup
Details
- You must have an active ESL Premium membership. More information here
- All games are played on Europe Stacraft 2 server regardless of location!
- Top 2 receive a spot in IEM Shenzhen
- You must be at least 16 years of age by July 16th 2015 ( the date of the LAN event)
- Hotel and flight cost are paid for in full by ESL.
- You must be a citizen (passport) or resident with a valid visa of Europe or Africa

A map veto (removal and pick) system is used. The high seed (lower number) on the bracket chooses who starts. Players take it in removing maps until only one remains in a best of 1 or until only 3 maps remain in a best of 3. Then each player picks a map. Maps are played in order they are picked. The remaining map is played last.

The other cups are cut off by date. It only shows X amount of upcoming.

It's weird how qualifiers are so exciting , almost more so than the actual tournament. It's like those players who aren't quite in the top tier fighting for their lives just so they can get beat down by a korean in the real tournament.
I think part of it is the not knowing and refreshing the page for updates. part of it is that you have a chance for upsets and partly because a korean guy will win the main tournament so it isn't exciting till the koreans play eachother later on.

I think if you sign up for a qualifier you should play out the whole thing. Kind of a disservice to the tournament, the fans and also the other players as you are showing a lack of respect to the whole thing.

I was thinking the only way of beating this is transitioning into mass muta before the terran hits a critical thor count with +2 upgrades and enough money to mass turrets. I don't think the queen/infestor/ultralisk comp can trade well enough to actually break a mech army with enough cost-efficiency to win in a longer game.

I stopped watching at about the 30 minute mark for game 1 of Happy/Snute.
Knowing quite well the play style and past history of both players i was quite confident i could check back in 30 minutes.

I've seen them work in Korea for players like Zest too often to believe that . It just doesn't go to that very late game often enough or we'd see them more imo. And of course the map has to be right.
