Saulo Silva has come up with another fun event for starcraft fans! This time, it's a tournament designed to get casters and personalities to fire up their keyboards and battle one another via archon mode in the lotv beta! Participants are required to have done some SC2 casting/media related content at some point. This tournament is not for PRO/Amateur players (unless they meet the eligibility criteria), eg Fenner, Moonglade, HuK, etc

$250 Prizepool!

(If both players agree, their series can be played on another server, but must you notify admin before + after)
Battle.net Group: Join the group OSC

Single Elimination.
- All series Bo3
- Semi's + Grand Final Bo5
*For best of 5's each team must rotate races after each game. Teams can select any order they like. eg P,Z,T,T,P or Z,T,P,Z,T - So the winners will have to show their Mastery of all 3 races!

If you are signing up as a team, also post your partners details. If you are interested in playing, but are yet to have a partner, it might help to post your main race as it could assist you in finding a good match!

Map Pool: Lotv ladder maps.

Both players take turns to veto 2 maps from the map pool, so there is 3 left, then they each select the map they most want if they lose, and start with the remaining map. Any problems, consult with admin.

IMO having 3 would just make it that much harder to coordinate (Zhuge and I had enough trouble with that - and not actually having played that much LotV). It's cool that you can do that - I can see that being even better for coaching!

Was fun for the first time I've actually done anything other than vs AI in LotV.

E: but the bracket does show them in the 3rd place match so maybe not? Now I'm curious about what happened after I went to take a shower...

I'm all about pushing the rules to the limits.... it's how starcraft players find the best builds and expose imbalances...... it does say both players in the tournament description implying only two players.... but in a star craft court of law a jury of nerd peers would probably rule in favor of the trichon... it would have been cooler if they beat them with the extra person but i guess if moneys on the line DQs look cooler

Nathanias and zombigrub and rifkin found a loophole that let them play with three people instead of two... rather than adding another player to their roster insano and pox complained to the admin deviant who DQ'd the Trichon.... sad end to an exciting tournament.

3 players were allowed as part of an archon, however R+Z were only signed up as the 2 of them until the last minute, when Nathanis was allowed to sub into their team after his partner didn't show up.

The archon mode does allow for more, hence a lot of the confusion. R+Z were aware of the allowance, others weren't. 4 weren't allowed as you could obviously have 2 teams.

The sponsor wanted to balance teams for the finals and $ matches (they were allowed to swap around players after each match, or do 3v3) to be fair on opponents. Team basetrade felt cheated given mid tournament rule changes, which may be justified given they had been playing several series prior, and forfeit.

Unfortunate end for what should have been a fun little tournament and showing off lotv.

ZG+Rifkin+Nate were specificly told that having 3 people in one team is allowed. The biggest problem with this tournament was that this information was not told to any other team, the only way you could know this is by directly asking or guessing.

I dont care what crap these people say about too many chefs in one kitchen, but playing 2v3 is a handicap. And they clearly abused this handicap by nate macroing and rifkin+zg controlling one siegetank+dropship each. So obviously the other teams are going to feel cheated if they lose a game because of a rule they were not informed of, but one team were.

It was unfair that the trio were essentially forced to ff. It would have also been unfair if they were allowed to continue. And it was unfair that they were allowed to play the 2 series like that. Shit happens where the organizers are so incompetent that they fail to inform everyone about key rules of the tournament.

This is sick. There is NOTHING in the rules that disallows 3, 4 or even 15 player teams (though 15 is probably not allowed by the game).
BTW. "Both players" is in places where it should say "both teams".

Not to mention that this is made even more pathetic by being only a, supposedly fun, $250 event. It's not like we're talking about thousands of dollars worth of prize money. Very petty.

Heeeryeee Heeryeeee star craft court is now in session.... earlier today at O5:00 hours a Trichon by the name of Nathrubskin entered into a binding Archonian contract allowing them to play in the caster cup. In the semifinal round their opponents Insano and Pox did indeed complain to the admin(s): Deviant &/or Eddiesc2, that it was unfair because they have no friends and they wanted the money... so they pushed for a DQ. The admins did so knowingly break the aforementioned sacred Archonian document mid tournament at the bequeef of the sponsor. Gentlemen....you now face sentencing.... I understand the Jury has come to a verdict.... what say you... "we the nerds of the round table find the defendants really, really, lame and dirty money grubbing buttholes" VERY WELL JURY... I rule in favor of the trichon Nathanias and zombigrub and rifkin and herby order the deplorable insano and pox to pay 390 minerals to the trichon for their emotional dmgs and potential tournament winnings as well as an additional 5000 partoufs for losing the next round and making yourselves look even more silly and lame.
