Interesting. Life hates SH. Roach/ling/hydra/muta or bust. didnt look like he hated it too much at blizzcon
That and against Flash in the Shoutcraft Invitational are some of the only instances in which I can remember Life going full-turtle SH.
Most of the time he seems to avoid them.

Well I can understand 5% of the words in the french cast :D

Honestly as biggest PartinG fan there is I still thought Life would take it 4-0 or 4-1. Managing to take it to 4-3 surprised me. I can say confidently now PartinG is the best Protoss atm. Maybe still a little under in PvZ compared to herO, but much closer than I thought. Better in PvT and PvP though :D! Gotta stay positive.

Wonder if the SH change goes live are we going to see protoss going late game and zerg trying to win early.

More nonbelievers than I was expecting

Any Vods not behind paywall?

Great final, but overall I must say Parting played at least as impressive as Life. Ignoring that failed coin-toss first game, they went 3-3.

The games Life lost he was behind from failed aggression. First game he lost he did a Roach/Ling all-in, didn't do enough damage, lost to the follow up Immortal push. 2nd game he lost he invested way too much to try to cancel the 3rd without even saturating his own 3rd, he had lower worker count than Parting at some point. 3rd game he lost he did a 2 base Burrow Roach push that didn't do enough damage and left him behind. In all 3 games Parting defended the all-in aggression, then won with the counter push.

I gotta say.. this finals goes up there as among one of the best ones. I haven't stayed up so late to watch a finals live in a very long time, but I'm glad it was for this one.

The ace match felt like a failed coin toss for Parting too. Nexus first vs 9pool -_-

Both players employed cheese and mostly lost in doing so because of the skill of their opponent scouting and defending. It's only Life's final cheese that actually worked out because of the coin flip (9pool vs. nexus first), but even then the advantage he secured was significant but not game ending until his mass worker kill later in the game, it still took some skill and attention to cash in the win. Very easy to turn a significant advantage in ZvP into a loss either through overextending/overaggression with stagnant tech and economy and a bad engagement or two.
Can anyone comment on Life's decision to cancel the nexus rather than go after workers with his first lings? I don't play or watch the matchup enough to know if that is the standard play in that situation, I thought worker kills were more certain damage.

Well in this case Life was one base and if he goes for some worker kills (which is hard to do if you pull workers perfectly (and Parting is able to do that) + have a Zealot out) and Parting gets his 2nd up Life is dead (since then Parting can quickly outproduce Life in either drones or makes a 2 base 4 gate and kill life just with gateway units or so) Killing the nexus and contain the P inbase is the right thing to do: If you kill 3-4 workers but don't kill the nexus right away, there is a chance the nexus will be safed by the mothership core and then 2-3 avaliable zealots.

It's a super open map with an exposed third, almost every standard PvZ was going to be about 2 base play on the third base of the opponent. Nexus first is pretty good against anything that isn't a super fast pool.
