Just woke up to see that every match has produced the most wiggidy-wack result I could have thought of. What in the everloving hell is going on here? This seems to me like one of the weirdest results I've seen in a tournament in a while. SC2 needs to start taking its lithium again.

TvP was 17-16 in favor of Terran this tournament. It's a PvP final not because protoss dominated, but because of brackets and a lot of close matches.

That's not how it works, you should say that protoss is OP,the game is broken and terran is so hard to play that everytime a zerg or a toss wins a tournament BLizzard should wake up!

Anyway can't wait for the PvP finals.

Wow.... Really surprised to see the comments here. I just finished watching the rest of day 2 (have watched every match so far) and was sure there would be enthusiasm for how this tourney has gone so far. The variety of the builds are great, the protoss players (hero, zest, trap) were showing really unique styles with everything from Colosi drop to double oracle to standard macro. There is the "Zest is back" underdog story and the first mirror matchup for a finals. I don't know how you can call yourselves sc2 fans and not be loving this tournament so far.

Because everybody, literally everybody except for Fantasy, is underperforming. herO, after barely defeating Cure who practically defeated himself on Deadwing, looked like a buffoon against Bbyong who looked horrible against Zest who looked bad throughout the tournament, and still beat INnoVation who beat Life. Patience played the worst out of any player in the tournament and got stomped by Maru, who missed a nydus worm in his main, in plain view, and stood no chance against Dark, who had bigger issues with quasi-retired TaeJa. Dark then makes himself look like a fool with his outrageously bad engagement on expedition lost against Trap. Trap barely beat Flash and Fantasy, who were by no means favourites, and Flash wasn't even playing that well.

TL;DR: Game quality underwhelming.

Good post/ summary. For me it felt like the tournament never really took of, players not getting into their proper shape. There were still some good games though nevertheless.
I Protoss winner, could it be?

Yes, that's basically how I see it aswell. I'll give credit to Zest who, despite, uh, "lackluster" execution, had really strong game plans against INnoVation and Bbyong (the fact that he was this well prepared for the matches despite having only little time for preparation is astounding) and to Trap, who, funnily enough mostly showed off his amazing execution but also had very strong game plans, especially for Flash though. They do deserve to be in the finals (albeit maybe for the wrong reasons).

But overall, I'm disappointed. IEM VIII Cologne was amazing, probably the best SC2 tournament I've watched. All other following IEMs were also very high level. IEM, to me, was associated with high level SC2 from that point on. And then we get this tournament in which some of the world's finest players play incredibly unclean and make it seem like the meta has gone backwards. I mean, ffs, one game of Zest vs Bbyong was DTs into gateway pressure into colossi vs (kinda forced, but still) 1-1-1. There were several PvT series, the majority of them had blink all-ins. This tournament was, overall, just weird.

Guys, this is the most hilarious tournament ever.

We have Trap who pulls all sorts of shenigans but also had great macro games, mindfucking everyone on his way into the final. Then we have out-of-shape Zest who was practically dead vs Hydra, but slowly crawls back, then confuses the hell out of Innovation with his slapstick all-ins, somehow edging through and became unpredictable to Bbyong.

It's the guy who retains his composure, who remains elusive and who controlls the dynamics that will win. Both Trap and Zest have had plenty of this. That's why they are deservedly in the final imo.

I've been tuning in here and there and iunno... I think this game isn't doing it for me anymore. TvP and PvZ are especially boring to me. Hopefully we'll see good shenanigans tomorrow. LoTV can't come soon enough.

I dunno man, the PvZ we had today I think was a real treat. The games were really exciting, Dark and Trap know how to put on a show.

Hahahahaha so good so good I can't believe it. I was told that Zest was a patchtoss and was literally Zoun. I was told that any Terran would 3-0 him with ease, that he has always been bad in the MU. That him being KT's ace was a shame and that literally any player on KT would do better. How come he's in the finals of IEM Katowice? Could it be that the TL experts were wrong all along?
