I seriously doubt the designer who made it was sane, as it can't be a good Idea to make a game that is about war and strategy and then invent a spell that makes you win without war and strategy (well if you count blocking units it could be called a valuable strategy).
I really don't get so many design decisions about protoss. The forcefileds, the colossus (as an easy to use, High-damage-output AOE unit that needs no skill, I always thought such units shouldn't exist) and the warpins. And the many allins and bullshit tactics possible around this.
They always make me hate the protoss race so much, I don't watch the games with toss anymore.
While I understand it takes skill to use all these abilities to the max, Blizzard knows from the very early days of sc2 that there is a lot of hate about all that and so many people are frustrated because of these abilities.
I don't understand why blizzard doesn't want to change that 2/3 of the players are frustrated with the game. Of course every race is a little bit frustrated about 1-2 things about the other race (Fungals or Widow Mines) but with protoss there are SO MANY things to get frustrated about. I really don't understand why that can't be changed. Propably because Protoss would be less a technical race and more a mechanical, but this would make playing and watching it more fun. Like: having more powerful gateway units but not being required to have so many powerful spells.
And yeah, I guess I am salty, since this guy killed 2 of my favorite terrans with bullshit and stuff that make me mad about toss (because they seem to be easier to execute than to defend against) and now also one of the best zergs.
Allins shouldn't be THAT strong, srsly. And from a failed allin in the beginning you shouldn't be able to come back like that.
And yeah, I do understand that Trap played phenomenal, he wouldn't be able to beat Flash, Fantasy and Dark if he didn't.
Still, I hate these abilities, I wished Trap showed some phenomenal macro games without all that stuff. You, and it seems the entirety of reddit, are so fucking mad right now. Nobody gets that upset about a Terran or Zerg winning, but when Protoss wins like that everyone loses their mind... It's not news that every time protoss wins a game someone has something to say. We're used to it. There's definitely a pattern, though. If you ask people about balance and design things, Protoss is the first thing to talk about. Not only about "Protoss so imba, pls nerf", but also "the only viable way to win as Protoss is to do stuff like X". The thing is, outside of tournaments, people don't really see a reason to talk about it. You act like people are rational about it. They will see a terran win a game with a drop when the toss is out of position, and scream "amazing game sense to drop now". The next game a protoss forcefields a ramp when the zerg is unprepared, and they're like "that's bullshit". Thats why I brought in the point that in discussions like the ones for LotV, people still bring up the same points that people raise to balance whine in here. That doesn't really happen to Terran and Zerg, their complaints are way more in line of "We need to balance economy", but for Protoss it's all about "remove X, remove Y, remove Z". With Colossi, Forcefields and Warp Gate tech being the most common ones. Why should that make a difference when the complaints aren't rational?
Ok, to summarize my point:
Protoss complaints in a rational discussion topic("LotV Multiplayer Update" etc) are almost exactly the same people use to balance whine in tournament threads. Rational discussion: Remove Forcefields/Colossi/Warp Gate; Balance Whine: Remove Forcefields/Colossi/Warp Gate.
Terran and Zerg complaints in a rtional discussion topic are, most of the time, completely different from balance whine in tournament threads. Rational discussion: Adjust economy, make it more mechanically hard, adjust units remove dmg etc very generic. Balance whine: Remove SH, Widow Mines, remove Banelings, remove Marauders etc.
The context in those two is very different, but for Protoss that results in almost the same.
