Literally every time I tune into ASL it's just a "Ads might not play in all regions" screen and no games. Do you guys just leave the stream "on" way too long or is there something wrong with dingit player for me?

We take 4 ad breaks a day. One after each match. Have you tried refreshing the page once you get there? 
I do know last night the VOD got bugged and the ad overlay was up instead of VOD.
You might need to do control + f5 too

Are games playing now? I started the stream as soon as I saw it on the TL sidebar but I just see the placeholder screen about ads running.
So I had to create an account in order to see the stream, otherwise you just get the placeholder screen. Cool, that might have been something worth mentioning, that you can only see the stream with an account. And then, when I did, I was greeted by a message saying there were delays and to come back @ 15:00 PDT, which is in the past. This is just really stupid.

Sadly at the moment Dingit doesnt have anything but still image capability for ad breaks. I would love to put up a timer but it is not possible for now.

Man, trying to watch past streams on Dingit is absolutely painful. What a miserable viewer experience. Had to reload the video player multiple times. I even got stuck in an infinite ad loop, watching the same thing over and over. What a mess.
