Right, all these progamers suddenly making the same joke. It's definitely shady. We need Zealously on the case.

I actually sent an angry message to Life tt

I thought about doing the same to Leenock but I think he's at least as upset as me and me sending negative shit to him isn't going to help the situation. Oh well, just hope for the best and that the players does well in their individual leagues as for now.

Well, didn't that happen quite often already and they just delayed the games?
I mean, I remember multiple games where someone arrived late and they just gave the team that was there in time 1 def win - but not an entire series...

(Don't know if it happened in a Kespa-tournament, though. )

This just sucks for everyone, especially for fans that wanted to watch it live in Korea. I would have prefered if they were more understanding and gave them like 1 loss for every 10 minutes late.

My Korean is quite bad still, from what I can understand Legend is apologizing and saying that they were departing at the normal time they always do, when they need to go to Proleague, but they were surprised by the snow and then the accident in the tunnel. It seems that authorities reacted quite slow to the accident, so a massive traffic jam was the result.
They communicated with the KeSPA referee and accepted the defwin as there was no chance of getting to the Arena in time.

if i remember right yea it's done for the round if that's what you meant. They don't count the playoff matches. Repick teams at the start of next round with new player prices

J/K in all seriousness, shame it went this way. Would have loved to catch vods of a cool series later on :/

I dunno man, this is a way worse time to be late since it's an marquee live broadcast event, whereas qualifiers had no audience and no broadcast - so only affecting the players if they have to wait for the late team; also DQ'ing ppl from qualifiers means they don't get play for several months, whereas ST-Y will be back next round, which I don't think should be too far away

Still though, it really sucks that they couldn't just delay the event, or reschedule with giving ST some massive penalties if necessary

They had a fucking full house of fans in the studio and alot of people trying to watch it.
When it is only about ST-Yoe stucking the snow, it is just a no sense action by KESPA: SpoTV likes to show a "oh sorry we have no games" instead of "we are 30 mins late, start will be arround 19:30pm to 20:00pm!"?
Being on hour late due to weather conditions is not more then one swarm host game.

It smells either like there is something REAL going on behind the scenes (when snow is just a bad excuse) with ST-Yoe or KESPA doing everything to save their own teams without caring about their viewers. Nobody can tell me it is better to show a 10 min show "sorry no games today" then waiting additional 1 hour.
In most other sports this is unthinkable.

It's actually not hard to understand Kespa's stance here. I am pretty sure the logic behind this strict rule was to ensure that the teams are always on time so that the live broadcast runs smoothly. It is strict, but otherwise teams would have little incentive to be one time. All it takes are few instances when the broadcasts are late and it would still ruin the professional image of Kespa. Swarmhosts are part of the game, so it's not Kespa's fault, but tardiness is one of the key features of a terrible host, especially with the high standard of the Korean public.

Also, I think the guy at the arena said that the judgement was up to the referee or sth. If that's true, it's the referee's fault here. I'm guessing the SSL qualifiers had a more lenient referee?

Nobody expects them to sentence NO punishment at all. But cancelling an entire series just seems too harsh. Especially considering there was only one series scheduled today instead of 2. And almost EVERYONE accepts a delay because of a traffic accident. In almost every sport that's an accepted excuse, as far as I know.

And I just can't get did of the feeling that the ruling would have been different, if there was one of the big kespa-teams involved.

I remember that EG-TL arrived late one time for Proleague and got to start with a 0-1 disadvantage against Woongjin Stars (then they won the match thanks tp Stephano). Why couldn't they do that this time ? Starting a show one hour late is not that bad and everyone would have understood. It's not lile StarTale was responsible at all, there was an accident in a tunnel -__-

I will never understand KeSPA.
