If Bbyong gets first, we could see MarineKing winning the entire tournament on the back of his TvP, or sKyHigh winning the entire tournament due to his TvT, or both O.o

As long as Terminator loses, there are basically no bad results for this group. PartinG's my favorite of the four, Bbyong is a close second, and Zest I like enough to appreciate him winning the last tournament of his breakout year.
I hope Bbyong wrecks with mech. Or that someone plays phoenix colossus against him. Or he busts out a bio-mech macro build. Or he 2 raxes. Or he 1/1/1s.
Probably Bbyong 2-0 Parting because Parting just showed off his best PvT and had to drink and travel afterwards.. and since it's Hot6ix I guess that Zest will experience 2xPvP 0-2 and then Parting can blink to 2nd place over Terminator?
Unless PartinG is going to be drunk, he should advance, let's go with Terminator. #thedream.

It wasn't his best, lol. Blink stalkers ain't whole arsenal.

yea, obv but he played 7 games vs Flash.. I would say that gives bbyong an advantage

I don't know why people are acting as if there's no way Bbyong will beat parting. They played about a month ago. Bbyong won 2-0.

Bbyongwa doesn't need anything such as an advantage to wreck that PartinG fool
Should I be excited for the Zest/Terminator match? PvP isn't even my fav matchup to watch, but lately there have been some sick fucking PvP, Blizzcon herO vs MC/Classic comes to mind, and I hope this will be good.
I don't really know much about Terminator's PvP. Can anyone enlighten me on any notable PvP he has played?
I kinda feel like its going to be lopsided win for Zest, so I don't want to waste my time (and sleep!).
However, a Zest/PartinG match would be so amazing, I would wake up at any hour to watch these two Protoss gods duke it out in three maps!
I will hope both Zest and PartinG beat their respective first opponents, so these two can go head to head.

4-0 against the recent WECG Korea finalists seems like a lot more than luck to me.

Well that are 4 games... Maybe i am wrong, but i don't think Marineking will be of much relevance next year (just like Sora for example)

Wrong sir. WECG will come back next year so Sora can recreate his run for a third time.

what a fucking shame, who gives a fuck about flash, he lost to skyhigh...
If Flash is an option he will win 100% of all fanvotes
JD vs Flash could be interesting, but maybe i am wrong there
in what way??? i mean JD isnt looking that great, if we saw the JD we saw at northcon last year vs the flash we saw at toronto, we would have one of the greatest matches of all time upon us...at that time, neither is looking fantastic...

Look what i replied to man Fan votes!
oh in that regard, should we see that possibility the internet will start fapping
I say that the strongest player in this group will go 0-4, similarly to soO in group B. Similarly to group A, every score will be 2-0, and like group C, the weakest player by far will take second. So, Zest 0-2 Terminator Bbyong 2-0 PartinG Terminator 0-2 Bbyong Zest 0-2 PartinG Terminator 2-0 PartinG
Now Soulkey is through I can watch this group without any bitter feelings at all.
Want Parting to get through, I don't really care about the other qualifier because they will just be more meat for SK to chew through on his run to the championship.

Why are there even other options than 1 star?
Because The Templar believes in democracy
Well, he's American, so really there should be two "totally different" 1 star options.

hilariously bad games are 5stars. That was the definition of 1star.

This is not an insult: is it maybe because you don't speak very good English so it's hard for you to understand accents that you're not used to (by listening to tv shows and movies from the US)

Wow, really unimpressed with Parting there. Not sure if it was Bbyong playing well, but... Letting that lead slip by not focusing on eco and completely committing too much on upgrades and tech way too early.

Definitely agreed. Wouldn't be surprised if we see progamers choosing one or the other more often from now on.

Just a variation of the mass drop style that was very popular last GSL. The way they open is quite cool and feels way more refined than most mine play tho.

He did in the end, but Bbyong should not have won this game after how hard Parting dominated him in the early game. He deflected three drops perfectly without taking basically any damage, killed a ton of SCVs and marines, and then what? Bbyong gets a single drop off and he's even/ahead
It may not be unfair or anything, but it's frustrating as hell to watch (and play against)

All it takes is one drop, stimmed bio kills shit just so so fast and takes so much to deal with properly. That, and one good mine hit on the probes...fml. It's scary seeing Terrans use mines more and more in TvP now

He did in the end, but Bbyong should not have won this game after how hard Parting dominated him in the early game. He deflected three drops perfectly without taking basically any damage, killed a ton of SCVs and marines, and then what? Bbyong gets a single drop off and he's even/ahead
It may not be unfair or anything, but it's frustrating as hell to watch (and play against)
Remember when Flash killed like 30+ drones vs soO then didn't micro well during the first engagement and ended up loosing?

All it takes is one drop/one good mine hit. =/
Now, now, he had plenty more than one good drop/mine hit.
He was defending EXTREMELY well, and then one good drop and it all unravels, that's why it's so frustrating.

On this map you cannot defend this style effectively on 3 bases. The main and natural are so open :/
Edit - double forge charge/blink isn't helping much either
with templar tech you could, i think
Against drops/mines? No, it's worse
lol it's far better if you can go 1 fast forge and decently time ht, feedback is awesome.
Not against WM/marauder style and drops. Then HT/Charge is worse. In constant action like this you have medevacs with almost no energy, so there's nothing to feedback and stalkers are pretty bad against ferrarivacs. It is not impossible, but you need better map than KSS or Leenock map, both these maps are designed to drop 3 base protoss into loss.

the oracle did his job, the phenix died way too quickly. It was a freaking proxy stargate not a light investment.

you underestimate how painful it is to have feedbacked medivacs.
Parting would have won easily if he had 2 based all inned after the opening. He let Bbyong get away with the 3rd with 7 marines and no stim done and he was able to get a shitload of units out after

you need to keep them alive almost the whole game, it prevents the medivac parking in the back of your main. It's like the main point of his build order and he failed really hard at it. anyway overgrowth, probably a chocho train if bbyong survives until that.

Yeah, when you build your dual forge at 12'20 you sure didn't slow at all your development...
Yeah, how dare he rush colossus out to be safe against continued aggression
I'm confused about this, maybe someone can explain. If drop/mine aggression is so popular on KSS, why would he rush Colossus? The Colossus were completely worthless in that game. HT openings might not be great in general, but they can't possibly have been less effective than Colossi were in that game.

it's useful but with this style your medivacs are never 100% energy. A single quick forge and a quick archive is the best way to handle it imo, but when you start with a proxied stargate it's impossible.

He stimmed all the time, medevac energy was pretty low. But still - PArting had HUGE advantage. All he had to do was do a 2 base timing. NOT ALLIN! Timing! And he would have won. He didn't, he lost. His fault.

protoss staying alive 25Min on 2bases
Bbyong could have just doom dropped and ended it way earlier. Instead he attacked into mass storms with mass viking/few ghosts/MMM
I think he has a point. I think its more zest instead of protoss. When you're 60 supply ahead and up in upgrades you should win a straight up fight. If it was any other protoss I think bbyong would have just smashed through the army.

Yeah, Bbyong is actually really really really good, he just doesn't seem to go to a lot of tournaments.

It was about composition. He had way too many resources/supply invested in vikings making a relatively large part of his army useless. He wanted to wait for his bio-ball to build up and for a significant number of ghosts to come out.

That was more of a funny game because Classic didn't scout it until forever lol. Too bad it didn't work the next few times he tried MechvP on outboxer.

Select widow mine, right click what you want to kill.
You can use this to delay the widow mine shot. Keep targeting two or more different targets and the mine will keep try to "lock on" and never fire. So you can sometimes wait for those probes to come back mining before firing!

So sick. I love pulling play like this off. I don't even making Vikings anymore because this style can work so freaking well. Granted I don't pull it off at that level, but I have gotten three attacking fronts going at once.

You can't on this map. That's why you should not choose this map. Not that he wasn't showing this against Parting, right?
Zest's PvT is his weakest match-up. It stands to reason that if this kind of aggression is really that prevalent and that strong, Zest must see it all the time on ladder and lose to it. Why would he pick that map and play standard unless he thought that gave him a legitimate chance to win? It makes no sense.

The skill is there but for some reason Bbyong never makes a big splash at individual leagues. He always looks good early on but doesn't make the Ro8. Then you have instances of his godlike play where he smacks down some of the best players. Not sure if we had an equivalent to him. We've had guys who did well in the teamleagues before bursting onto the scene.

Zest is no top3 PvT for sure though
Well, who is? Because the only consistent PvTer, herO, lost to Marineking.
Yeah, but Marineking played unlike everyone expected him to. Including herO. Remember how Hyun took the first game off Innovation at Blizzcon by just playing macro? I'm not saying MKP didn't play well, he obviously did, but if herO goes into that series against a barcode not knowing it's MKP, the series could have been very different.

herO had not lost a PvT series since August before this Hot6ix Cup. PartinG is usually sharp. For Rain and sOs, I don't know, they didn't play PvT a lot recently.

herO did some unusual errors in his PvT against MK, it was pretty weird. But bad days happen. Parting played 1st game poorly and in the 2nd he made a bad decision not to end the game, though he wasn't aware what is coming(Zest saw the game, he should know ). For sOs - he made Carriers work in PvT, honorable place(and he play insane styles, though he hasn't been on air lately) and Rain is just Rain

I would bet on Rain in BO3 with good map picks, but I need to see those picks before. In BO5 I would bet on the Terran player.

I feel there was no need to balance whine in either PvT series. Bbyong vs Zest was great.

Parting getting some revenge for GSL GC would be pretty cool. And honestly, with how Terran-heavy the ro8 is, and his performance against Life not too far behind him, Zest could be in big trouble in this tournament. PartinG on the other hand has a very good chance against any opponent.
edit: looking at the top bracket, I take it back. Zest can beat Rain, that gets him to the finals. He'll need sOs to win, though.
completely off topic, but why KR players which such great results like Rain decide to go foreigner? is proleague that broke that teams like myinsanity can pay better ?

Teams like mYi encourage players to play in foreign tournaments. Teams like SKT T1 don't.

I'm pretty sure Rain is not playing in Proleague. Also what was said above.

Dropping like bogus (which means staying in code S) is quite ok if you're perfoming well in foreign tournaments. dropping more is quite annoying.

It's incredibly hard to gauge how good MK is. He did very well against herO and Stats, but there's a very real possibility that they underestimated him and Rain could eat him for breakfast. Or not.

The favorites in the RO8 are MKP, Soulkey, sOs, and sKyHigh. If they advance, the favorites are Soulkey and sKyHigh. Then Soulkey wins
A world in which MKP is favored against Rain is a bad one imo. Also Zest is favored against Soulkey easily. Innovation against sOs too The tvt is debatable though, skyhigh's tvt looked really strong.

MarineKing vs sOs sounds like a good way to get a lot of weird shit (in game)
Bbyong topping the group, did not expect that at all o_0
I don't understand why MKP is considered a favorite based off winning his group stage. He's still very unproven. Things will be more interesting if he runs into a zerg too.
Bbyong pulling upsets of the century. This is probably a bigger upset than MMA beating Bomber or Classic beating Polt.

MarineKing is the favorite not because of his group, but because he has proven that he is a top player in the past. And now he proves again that when he is on form, he's the best player in the world.

I like MarineKing as much as the next guy, but let's not get ahead of ourselves there ;D His group was quite weak actually, herO and Stats with Protoss not super powerful aren't that hard to beat. It was surprising that MarineKing was in form, for sure, but he still has a long way to go.

This. I have no idea why Bbyong was such a heavy underdog coming in. He's beaten them both before, even when protoss was super strong. Though him playing like Polt on speed was a little surprising to me. I was expecting more creative plays, maybe even bio mech.

You don't need creativity when you have a hammer :D

Actually, now that I think about it, he played a lot more like WOL gumiho than Polt. Bunny, now Bbyoing? Gumiho's influence is strong with CJ terrans.

True. I'm surprised the colossus drop didn't help Classic's popularity.

Literally everything you heard from anyone from Bbyong's GSL runs was "if he just does the safe standard play and play super solid he will have a good chance at winning this." Can't really blame anyone else for getting no cred when even the hype casters can't find things remarkable about you.

He's always had that in him. I think he's the only terran who do army splits vs Zerg. Watch his series vs Impact and DRG in code A.

Bbyong has always been considered a super innovative terran, a lot of casters consider him "the funnest terran to watch" because you never know what he is going to pull, I remember Artosis saying Bbyong was insane because not only he played in weirdest ways but also because he won with it, he's faaaaar from being a standard player

I did watch his games, I saw all his attempts to mech as well (literally the only terran to attempt to mech those 2 seasons vs non T... since flash was out of GSL), other people obviously didn't.

Polt does it fairly often and Taeja will split his shit if he feels the need to on occasion :D

Maru mechs as well. It was in proleague vs herO. He did play marine tank vs protoss in GSL though.
It was hard, but you succeeded in advancing to the Quarter Finals. How do you feel?. Honestly, today I felt confident enough to even beat Terran and thought I could finish in 1st place, but I was pushed around more than I expected so it seems I ended up losing. I wanted to show live that I can do well against Terran too, so I’m frustrated.
You were defeated by Terran once again, this doesn’t help your image of being weak against them… The original maps needed to be changed this season and the maps being used this time are good for Terran. At least on maps I’m capable at I can blame it on my ability, but it’s usually hard to win against Terran on those maps.
It looked like you were getting contained. If Terran contain you, you must block them from the absolute start. If you can’t do that you’ll continue to get pushed around, and I was unable to block the first one. I depended on watching him play against Won Lee-sak (PartinG) as my preparation, but after suffering the mines in Set 1 strangely the match didn’t turn out very well.
You’ve ended up against Zerg in the Quarter Final. I’m not sure, but I think at live matches I might have better results against Zerg than Terran, but I have similar confidence with both races. Still, I feel more comfortable facing Zerg live.
Unfortunately, you were eliminated in the World Championship Series Global Final. Since I was overseas for 3 weeks I wasn’t able to practice much during that time. Being defeated by Lee Seung-hyun (Life) really knocked my confidence, but since my Quarter Final opponent is Kim Min-chul (Soulkey) I have confidence.
It could have helped you make 2014 your year. My poor results in Seasons 2 and 3 and the Global Final are frustrating. I’ve been told I’ve done well this year but personally I feel my results don’t seem satisfactory. If I can finish the year by winning the Hot6ix Cup I think it will help me feel at least a little more satisfied.
Do you have any final words? I want to thank my team-mates and Nam Ki-woong (Hurricane) for helping me practice. It’s also Coach Kang Doh-gyung’s (H.O.T-Forever) birthday on Sunday, so I’d like to wish him a Happy Birthday.
There are other interviews with the rest of the Ro16 winners. Dunno which one to do next (if I do do another), so feel free to suggest one you want most~
MarineKing 3-0 Rain (just no contest as MarineKing is looking like the best terran in the world right now) Soulkey 3-1 Zest (I'd normally pick Zest, but he is in a nearly unrecoverable slump right now, especially against top Korean Zergs) sOs 3-2 Innovation (but this match can go either way) Skyhigh 3-0 Bbyong (Skyhigh kind of beat Flash in top form)
On November 23 2014 10:09 GTPGlitch wrote: oh man i'd love you if you could translate skyhigh's! Haven't read an interview with him in forever :<
His is pretty short compared to the others so I think I'll give it a go later. SoulKey's isn't too long either so maybe that too. Then if I'm feeling up to it I miiiiight try sOs or MarineKing.
I should really be doing an essay, not translating... haha
You played Kim Doh-woo (Classic) and Lee Youing-ho (Flash), both of which have had good pace lately, consecutively and caught them out. I feel really great. Since I passed the Qualifying Round I felt like I could beat anything. Lee Young-ho (Flash) has been getting good results in foreign competitions and Kim Doh-woo (Classic) made it to the WCS Round of 16, and I felt my pace improving as I was defeating them.
Your final game against Lee Young-ho (Flash) was really impressive. I came with the mindset that I will not lose to Terran. I've been confident against Terran since Starcraft 1, and Starcraft 2 is no different.
In your first set against Lee Yong-ho (Flash) you had to pull a reversal, and then in set 2 you won overwhelmingly. I trapped Lee Young-ho (Flash) with psychological warfare. Lately I often end up playing against him in ladder matches, and I had a build I used every time. This time I changed that strategy pattern and as a result I was able to dominate him.
Who would you like to face in the Quarter Final? I want to avoid my team-mate Jung Woo-yong (BByong). I don't care who it is as long as they're Terran or Protoss, and I wouldn't mind Joo Sung-wook (Zest) either.
What kind of resolve do you have going into the Hot6ix Cup Quarter Final? My fans have had to wait a really long time to see me play, I've had very little chance to show them me playing Starcraft 2. I'll try harder so that they can see me play well and more often.
You got through by beating Terran players Jo Byung-se (sKyHigh) and Lee Young-ho (Flash). It's not easy playing against Terran since they have a lot of different play patterns layely, so I prepared in several different ways. I've not looked very good in 2014, but I'm preparing hard to change that in 2015.
You often moved aggressive. I'm practising in a lot of diverse ways, and it seems like an aggressive approach is best for live matches. I do it since I realise everyone thinks I plan for mid-to-late-game.
Your first set against Lee Yong-ho (Flash) was really difficult. I thought I'd lost. When I tried attacking with the Banelings I did so thinking "I need to believe in my luck". I was really lucky.
Who are you hoping to face in the Quarter Final? I want to play against Jin Air Green Wing's Ha Jae-sang (Terminator), it seems like I can easily beat him and get through to the Semi-Final. I hope he can become a support for my revival. It doesn't seem like Ha Jae-sang (Terminator) has much chance of surviving, but he practised hard so I hope he makes it to the Quarter Final (laughs).
Are you close with Ha Jae-sang (Terminator)? Yes, we're close. He seems to understand how I feel.
Any thoughts on advancing to the Quarter Final? I had a couple of difficult matches where I had to come from behind to win so I feel really good. Personally I thought Group B was the worst group to be in so I’m even happier about finishing in 1st place.
You managed to defend against Jun Tae-yang (TY) in a dramatic Set 3. Since I’d already shown my proxy Stargate strategy in Sets 1 and 2, I was wondering how he might prepare for Set 3. I thought he might try a concussive shells Marauder rush, so I established a safe strategy and easily stopped him.
Your proxy Pylon strategy in Set 1 broke down. Even when I’m practising I’m not very good at placing pylons well, so difficult situations often come up. Because it was the most important match today I concentrated on placing them well, but I still messed up. I need to practise more before next time (laughs).
You used the proxy Stargate strategy again in Set 2. Jun Tae-yang (TY) seems to plan for the early game, so I used it to try and shake him. It seems I was able to get through this time by successfully mobilising my Stalkers and Zealots.
Did you plan the proxy Gateway strategy you used in Set 2 with Jun Yoon-jong (Rain) beforehand? It was impulsive. In Set 1 I wrongly thought I had the advantage and could easily win, but Jun Yoon-jong (Rain) had good sense to attack with Dark Templars mixed in with his army. Actually, I went into Set 2 with more of a care-free attitude and was just going to see what happened. Even if my worker was discovered, if I had won as a result, would it not have been a successful strategy?
You’re facing Lee Shin-hyung (INnoVation) in the Quarter Final. At last year’s WCS Season 1 Finals he defeated me completely. Back then he was a player everyone thought was unstoppable, and I still think he’s a great player now, but I don’t think he’s Super S grade. If I try hard I can beat him.
You couldn’t go to Blizzcon, was that not frustrating?. I took consolation in the fact it gave me some time to rest, but after seeing the others playing at Blizzcon I felt regretful and thought “I should have been playing in that seat”. Since I expect I’ll show even more strange strategies in the Quarter Final, I hope Lee Shin-hyung (INnoVation) comes back after doing a lot of thinking.
