OlimoLeague is a weekly Korean online tournament for StarCraft II players that will begin August 2014. Hosted every Saturday night, OlimoLeague is a single elimination, best of 1 format until the round of 16. The round of 16 is best of 3 format with the finals being a best of 5. Players of any region can participate in the tournament, but the default server is KR server.
In addition to the weekly tournaments, a $500 monthly final will be hosted at the end of each month with the top weekly contestants. Participants are determined by how many points they've accumulated from the weekly tournaments.
As OlimoLeague continues to grow, the goal is to expand into more tournaments for the Korean scene, including bi-monthly or monthly finals. If you like what you see, consider tipping through Patreon as I can continue making tournaments. In addition to your contribution, you also receive awesome benefits such as mentions during the stream, or even bigger rewards like getting a coaching session from CranK or a replay casted by TotalBiscuit (a huge thanks to both of them for offering their time)! To learn more about Patreon or the rewards, click the image above.
Will this be the set time for all the future weekly tourneys? 9pm for Korea seems like it could be a little earlier so that way people on the west coast (PDT) could stay up to play it rather than wake up at 5am. Just wondering ^^ either way this is great!
While all those casters hold their boring Showmatches and Invites, Axiom saves Korean SC2-scene.. LOL. I have to change my favorite-team from Prime to Axiom!

The time may change from now and when the tournament begins, let me determine and I'll announce any time changes on July 26th.

Thanks Olivia for hosting this and the casting machine that is BaseTrade TV, very much looking forward to tuning in!

On July 18 2014 00:51 SatedSC2 wrote: Why did you remove two of the ladder maps from the map-pool?
When I was coming up with the format for the weekly I talked a lot with my pro gamer friends about their opinion on what other weekly tournaments do right and not as right. Key points were server defaults and the map pool. Since the finals is is a bo5 this allowed me to remove 2 maps most players felt were not as balanced as the other maps this season.
Great idea! This will defitenly help most of the unknown B-Teamers for promoting themselfs (such ESV for instance promoted Taeja before he was famous).

Just an opinion, and I know it's the unpopular one, but since all the other tournaments do it, maybe it's time we gave the Koreans a break: if it's a Korean weekly, favourtism should go towards the Korean server, no?

If thats the case I think the default should just be KR since it is a KR tournament, and maybe a coinflip/alternate for bo3 or bo5. However regardless of if it's a KR tournament or not I want to be fair to all participants, so I'll try to figure out and solidify the rules by July 26th.

Just my personal opinion (not as your boss), I think that you're better off sticking to KR server. It doesn't seem right to give an American player an advantage especially in a BO1 where anything can happen, when the tournament is aimed at supporting the Korean scene.
I'd perhaps alternate BO3/BO5 if it got to that point and default the BO1s to KR only.

i'd support that. And btw a huge thank for being awesome.
Lol? I completely do not understand why in a tournament to support the Korean scene, the games should be played on an NA server, when a player is from NA. They have so many tournaments, qualifiers right now, and how TB says, the only KR-tournament, where its Bo1, should be played on NA, if a NA-player participates. It completely does not make sense to me.

Well I certainly wouldn't expect people with Code S or Proleague games coming up to reveal builds in an event like this, but bear in mind, ESV weeklys were where players like Taeja got their start. We want the next Taeja.

Of course, I don't expect any code S player to play here (Maybe players like Solar or Stork, who I've seem playing small cups on-line before).
I followed ESV cup almost every week. But near the last days, it was literally only these two teams (nshs and zenex) who participated. Some times FXO
Prime, Ogs, IM, MVP, Slayers, Startale didn't have even 1 player playing there, not even code B players. It was no fun watching Taeja stomping on completely unknown players
I hope this works, though. At least I hope Prime, MVP or IM participate

True enough, but I think the landscape has changed significantly since then. Heck back then, most of KeSPA hadn't even switched, now there are plenty of B-teamers and up and coming talents along with some players from the less successful teams that would participate I would imagine.

I imagine they will play in some of them, but coming up to WCS matchs will be focusing on practice and not revealing builds.
I'm honestly really interested to see how many Europeans and North Americans try to play in these despite the lag. Not even make a deep run, just how many decide to try for the first one.
Should be really exciting regardless though! I hope we at least end up seeing State play in these since he's in Korea.

Thank you, TB. I'm looking forward to following this tournament!
Missed these weekly tournaments! Lots of great players (TAEJA!) got their start wrecking these types of things on a pretty regular basis. Had a lot of fun watch the old ICCUP and Korean Weeklies.
Alongside the English stream provided by BaseTradeTV, we have a Polish stream casted by EmSc Tv!
There were concerns over the initial map pool that has been picked by me from the Season 3 ladder maps. The original map pool is as follow: Deadwing LE, King Sejong Station LE, Overgrowth LE, Merry Go Round LE, Nimbus LE (I removed Catellena and Foxtrot) I will make no changes to the map pool just yet.
I figure Olimoley picked the pool after consulting with Axiom/Interested players, maybe there was some pushback on Catallena. Still will be a great series to watch

If you are the real dream, I've been trying to contact you here, PM, and on battle net and you did not respond. In addition SuperNova has been waiting for you and you did not respond in the allotted time, so he has received his free win and moves on to face Nathanias.
Symbol looks like he has no idea how style actually works. Game 1 was just a mess from him, and he's making some very strange choices in this game too. Just get vipers, spread creep, make static def and start abducting.

Ahh, it's frustrating, seeing how few people signed up for this. A free online tournament where you can potentially get prize money, and the worst case scenario is that you get to get good practice against Korean pros and don't win money.
Like.. this should be flooded with NA pros trying to make a name for themselves and stuff, you'd think. I hope this gets more popular.

More Korean players should have signed up as well. With Code S starting up soon, you'd think at least a few players would like to use this oppurtunity for practice + money.

I'm guessing most teams are on break or something? Or they didn't like the time? Because I assume they all knew it was happening.

Just give it some time, I'm reasonably sure this will pan out. We got some decent names already, and this is only the first time. I think it's a fairly safe bet that a lot of Kespa players don't even know this league exists yet.
I think this was a good showing for the first run. When I first heard of this, I specifically thought of symbol and supernova. 2 really good teamless (well at the time) Koreans. I was really glad both showed up for it. That in itself justifies the money I put up for it in my mind.
Things are a bit crazy in Korea at the moment I imagine, Proleague finals coming up and Code S not far off. Give it month or two and let the word get around and I truly believe this will be stacked with good Koreans. Keep up the hype guys!
