BL/Infestor was a completely broken strat that was uncounterable by Terran. Like once Zerg got to that composition, the only way they could possibly lose is to COMPLETELY fuck up. I remember watching Polt play his heart out against either Violet or HyuN at IPL5, like the best Terran I'd ever seen and he still couldn't beat it. It was the only build that mattered and the only build you went for against Terran outside of some very exceptional circumstances. It was broken. Protoss is obviously really strong at the moment, but it's a completely different situation. If anything this series demonstrated that quite nicely, 7 very different games between evenly matched players. There is no bullshit composition that beats everything, yes you can even lose with a 3/3 deathball. Broodlord/Infestor was flat out broken, Protoss needs some tuning (or Terran needs a bit of help). Frankly I think it's extremely likely that the only reason Zerg didn't win everything back then is that players weren't as good as they are now. The best players are winning with the best race and they're winning a lot, as opposed to BL/Infestor where players were literally winning with one composition every single game vs Terran. The situation is clearly better and I think anyone that doesn't believe that has a very short memory. The seething negativity and hatred surrounding those playing Protoss right now is something I commented on back in 2012 when the Zerg stuff was happening. It was completely uncalled for to attack players of the race or undermine their achievements. HyuN should know this better than anyone, he made his ridiculous Fight Club runs when Zerg was the most powerful race. Thankfully he is just sorta raging about balance right now instead of going after Pigbaby or Stardust but there are plenty of posters (at least on Reddit, this LR is more civilized) just shitting on the Protoss winners today. It's a good job Pigbaby is so likeable and showed unique builds, otherwise it would have been a lot worse. TL:DR - BL/Infestor was far worse than this, any suggestion otherwise is revisionist history. Criticize the balance if you must, but do not undermine the achievements of hard-working players, it's not their fault they play the race which is most dominant right now. | ||

The games may be closer to even now but the end results are pretty similar. And fwiw, I don't see much true hate directed at the Protoss players themselves unless you count "Who is this guy I haven't heard of him before." | ||
