They wanted a NA centric tournament and I have been told that this is what the silent majority in the community wants. Im surprised it has taken this long for someone to region lock considering how horrible Korean domination is for the game. I'm pretty sure they want anything but an exclusively Korean top 8. I would love to present stream numbers showing evidence for why Korean dominance is detrimental to popular Starcraft 2 but sadly I don't have any access whatsoever to such figures. I am however absolutely certain a mix between foreigner and Korean player base would yield a much higher viewer base than an exclusively Korean top8. Why do you think having Korean top 8s are bad? Top 8 is supposed to be the best players and if Koreans are the best players, then so be it. I'm not sure what you are basing that Koreans hurt eSports when Koreans are at the foerfront of bringing eSports to the masses :/ I'm saying a varied base of nationality is more compelling to the general masses compared to single nation dominance. Like I said, I'd love to present stream numbers confirming my stance but sadly I don't have access to such numbers. I'm sure you could find convincing arguments for my case by watching every single SOTG/LO3 episode featuring Sundance DiGiovanni but I can't be arsed to do that (as I'm sure you feel the same). I'm saying only the small minority of dedicated people care about "the best players", the majority of people care about something as frivolous as nationality. If not the football world cup wouldn't be the multi-billion dollar sport even it is today. I kinda agree with you but if thats a fact how come tournament organizers dont do more straight up region locked qualifiers? I haven't payed that much attention the past 12 months but I thought tournaments had started to adhere to some really strict region locking? I thought you needed a green card / work visa to participate in respectable WCS regions? Like Polt and Violet have legit athlete visas in order to participate in WCS America. | ||
